I was born and raised in Las Vegas. I moved out of that area approximately 12 years ago. I have about 10 years Hotel management expierience. My new husband and I want to relocate back to Las Vegas to be near my family(my mother is quite ill) I really have lost touch on how to go about applying for a job in the Vegas market. It used to be back in the day you needed some kind of "juice" to get a decent job. Is there an easy way or a specific way to find a job while relocating?

Monster , Yahoo Hotjobs, Careerbuilder are some of the largest job boards, where you can apply for jobs and upload your resume. Since Craigslist, allows free job postings, many smaller companies post their vacancies on this online classifieds website. You can also search for jobs from multiple websites using aggregators like SimplyHired and Indeed. Referrals are also becoming a increasingly popular way to
get hired.

Welcome home girl!!
Things have changed quite a bit in 12yrs, you won't recognize the place. Along with the surface changes, politics still play a large part in getting a good job, sort of...
If you still have connections, I would use them, make it easy on yourself. At least in the Casino world. If your career is outside this industry, the internet is being utilized more than anything. Competition is very tough in the hotel industry even away from the "strip" as there are so many people willing to work. And of course most are union houses now at the blue collar level and the white collar level does require some serious education. If you can cover the education with work experience, plan are being screened like never before.
With the level of growth over the last 25+ yrs, there are so many business here that hotel management and management experience would serve well on the resume.
If you are strickly interested in the casino hotel enviornment, you must be aware that with the grad rate at UNLV for hotel managment, you would be up against some stiff competition. The hotel want the young with MBA or grad degrees.
About the only casino that you have a fair shot at is the new Wynn. Steve is not union and while he has his executives from old still with him, he looks for more than just a degree.
There are so many new projects being built, like Trump Towers just next the old Frontier that with good resume and work ethic you should have no problem.

Good luck..

Well, the very first thing you should do is get registered with the State Job Service in Las Vegas. It's free. (Well, you/we all pay for it thru taxes.) You can do it on-line.
