As a single working taxpayer I believe that students should pay income tax like everybody else. Theyt already get cheap housing and cheap loans. IE if I went to my bank and said I want a loan but can't start to pay you back for five years I woulod get laughed out of the building. Also since the introduction of Tuition fees, where has the portion of my Income tax gone that was previously used to make university education free for all. I haven't had a rebate for that part of my tax bill and probably never will. Do you think students have it too good and should start living in the real world and have to pay for things like everybody else does.

I am a nanny and am looking for a new position starting this fall. I have worked for many families and have 3 written references from my last three employers that really say a lot of good things about me. When someone asks for me to send my resume and references I know they are referring to a list of people who they can call about me, but I have been sending these letters in addition.

Do you think this is too much? I don't want to seem full of myself, but that is the purpose of those letters right? I was considering only sending one of the letters along with my resume.

The reason I ask is because there have been many families who ask for my resume and references and then I never hear from them again. I guess it could be my resume also, though I spent a lot of time on it. If anyone wants to critique my resume that would be welcome as well. Just email me.

my apartment complex locks all stairwell doors so that if you are inside you cannot exit until you reach the garage level. Is this safe or are they breaking a fire safety regulation?

I'm in NJ, and my brother and a friend who worked together in a restaurant in the GA area decided to open a small take out place for themselves. My brother asked me for a loan of $10,000 to help purchase the restaurant, and I wired the money to a joint account of the friend and her mother, since my brother did not have a savings account. (He's here on a Visitor's Visa.) The acquisition didn't work out, so they decided to look for another one. In the interim, however, my brother's friend decided to use the money to purchase a house in a girlfriend's name!

What can I do to try and recoup the money? I only found out that the friend had spent the money when I reqeusted it back, and nothing came after two weeks of her daily claims to have wired it.
I've tried to reach both the friend and the mother, but they are not returning my calls.
They never signed the promissory note, but I do have a notorized copy of the documentation showing the wire transfer.
Any guidance at all would be great!

And I still haven't started work, what do I do? I call the Human Resource Manager daily as he requested, and I get no response, even after numerous messeges. What do I do? Is there a law in California in regards to when an employer hires you and how soon there after they must provide you with work? I was promised work, but I don't get a response, doesn't human resources have to contact you to let you know anything?
