I see this:

Company X declared a quarterly dividend of $1.85 per share, payable Oct. 31 to shareholders of record on Sept. 29.

Does that mean I only need to buy the stock on that date to receive the dividend? Can I sell it the next day? How long do I need to hold the stock? Do I need to own it before the declared date? I just want to know of all the people and buy and sell the stock, how do they determine who gets the dividend?

Why do so many companies only want to hire people with degrees? I realize it gives them more of a professional stature, but what about the people that are less fortunate and couldn't afford college and are sick of working at little companies?

My b'f John was told by his new boss that when he goes to see a client, he should 'Mirror' the client's body language. If he folds his arms, John should copy him. This way, his boss said, the client will warm to him. John's a bit nervous in case the client knows what he's doing.

Hello,
Ive been working out some bugs and kinks in my business plan. and I think that I make enough money to move my business to the next level... Owning my own building.

To shed some light on what my business is, you can compare it to a Dairy Queen, mixed with a candy shop. Basically Ive been selling at events and I once got a concessions contract, but that didnt work out. I usually generate $6000 Net profit at these events (the problem is these events come only 2-3 times a year) and I have about $10000.0 saved up.

The building I want is across a highschool (seems too perfect) and its leased for I believe $4000 a month
Now the only problem with that is its hard to estimate the demand for this. I dont know if i would only sell $2000 a week or $10000 (but thats the risk :D) Should I go with investors or a 10 year loan or sell my soul to VISA?Any tips are deeply appreaciated!!

Thanks for hearing my sob story, my email is Snackcity@gmail.com If that helps.

I'm selling a lot of clothes, and some of are new (with tags still on them). What would be a good percentage to take off of the store price to sell them? Also, I have a few hard cover books, none of which have been read more than twice and an ACT study guide that was never used. I have a Bilingual Elmo which is new, but has been taken out of the box, a PS2 game, and a couple of dvds. What prices would you be willing to pay for these items at a sale. If you're wondering, I'm doing a sale with a friend and we're mostly doing clothes. If you've done a sale like this before, about how much did you make?

I'm trying to get a personal loan to pay off some debt, before it affects my credit rating. My credit is decent for being 22 yrs. (640) Every bank/instition has told me this. But no one will give me a loan either because A) I only have 3 years of credit rating or B) Because I have student loans, it affect my debt to income ratio to much, even though I dont' pay on those until I get out of college. I'm trying to save my credit, but they only way it seems to get out of debt is to ruin my credit first! I even checked with places that offer loans to people with bad credit/no credit! I also don't have anyone to cosign with me. Help please!

I recently applied at a well know temp agency in Pittsburgh and my initial interview went well. I was asked by my temp agent if I could reduce my hourly rate by 2 dollars for 3 months with the possiblity of a raise at the end of my review. This all was okay with me. I was set up to go an interview with a solid company and my temp agent strictly expressed to me not to discuss money with the employer. I followed her instructions and the interview went well. My temp agent asked me to call her and explain the details of my interview. I discussed with her that the prospective employer and I talked for an hour, we seemed to click and that I could see myself working for her and the organization. This is where the tide changes, my temp agent asked me if I could take this job for a lower amount of money than was agreed upon. She said that the employer may decline the offer if I wasn't flexible in reducing the rate. I don't believe her, any advice on how this game is played?

There is a woman at work who is about twice my age but dumb as a box of rocks. I worry about her competence, but above all she drives me and my other colleages insane. My immediate supervisor is aware of the situation and even makes jokes about her intelligence (lack of) behind her back. She is a nice person and tries really hard but she just doesn't have what it takes to work on our team in my opinoin. Should I go above the supervisors head to management about this person, or wait for her to make a mistake that could cost her her job.

I've recently attended a wedding of a Canadian friend, but I was the only one to smash my champagne glass on the floor, and I had more attention for that than when the bride tossed her flowers to the group of ladies! Ha ha...I really didn't do that, but only because no one else did. Apparently that is not popular custom at North American weddings. At Russian weddings, everyone throws their glass on the floor to break it for luck. So, I thought that perhaps if this is not traditional in many places, the Russian Federation at least should make the top of the list for imports of champagne glasses, but I don't know how to find out...
