There is a home that I want in New Orleans that costs about 400K. I can afford about 1200 a month but it is not enough for what the bank wants. I know this is crazy, but at a teacher's salary, I can afford to be desperate. I will do anything to get this home so I can start a family.

I have pretty good credit, but most of what remains unpaid is medical. Even if you pay on it, if it's not paid in full within 6 months, it goes on your credit report. That infuriates me when I'm working my rear off to make payments. Is it worth it?

A friend was offered a job with my company based on outdated state required criteria. I gave her a copy of the new criteria, which clearly showed she was not qualified, that I got off the internet at home. I gave it to her during an after hours dinner. She went to the interview and asked questions and I was wrote up for attempting to destroy a program by turning away qualified people. I gave my employer a copy of the old criteria and the new and asked that they be attached to the write up and they refused to put these documents in my personnel file. I placed them in the file my self and they removed them. Is this legal?

I'm considering opening up a 529 college savings plan for my son. I've read about the benefits and the different state plans. What is hidden is what if my son decides NOT to go to college? What happens then?

Do I get to keep the money? Do I have to pay taxes and what kind of penalties are there when I take the money back for myself? On the several financial sites I've found, they just mention that there may be penalties involved.

I recently applied for several jobs and am very surprised that there have been no responses. I am a qualified person and have always had great reviews at work. In most applications I have provided my SS# so I am concerned that there may be some negative info out there. Several years ago I had filed for workers comp and ultimately had to file civil action agianst my old employer, could this be hurting me? How can I get past this if it shows on my background?

A good credit report is very important for living a comfortable life of financial freedom but it's difficult to recover fom a bad credit report once you've made a few mistakes. Credit repair companies can be helpful, especially if you allow some time for your file to be worked on before you need it completely done.
