For the medical expenses, work out a payment plan with the hospital or qualify for emergency Medicaid.

For the furniture, check craigslist and the newspaper for free or cheap stuff, or go to a rent-to-own place that doesn't have credit restrictions. You'll rent at an unsightly interest rate, but at least you'll have furniture. Get only what you need (example: a bed) from the rental store. For everything else like end tables and lamps and such, save up the money and buy it used. You can find great deals at garage sales.

Good luck!

I agree with the poster that told you to contact the medical provider about programs that give financial aid. There is also different charity's that will help with some medical debts. If this was from hospitalization, contact the hospital and ask.

You can also contact your local DHS and ask them.

Then, work on you poor credit. Get it cleaned up so you can qualify for purchasing furniture.

Before borrwing anything you need to build better credit first. Get a credit card for the lowest amount possible. Charge small amounts every month and pay the FULL amount off asap. It will take a while so go to a garage sale and get your furniture.

To family because no one else is going to lend it to you.

My recommendation would be to save your cash to buy cheap used furniture and talk to the medical providers to work out a discount.

That beats more debt anyway you look at it.

You will probably not get a 5k loan with very poor credit. Work and save.

Talk to the billers at the hospital about programs they have in your area to help pay medical bills. I wouldn't do it but if you own your car outright you can get a title loan.

You don't need $5,000.00 for furniture.

I suggest you to open a HSA.
