I’m trying to grow my natural hair back out. When I was 14, I was teased for having natural hair by other black girls who have gotten their hair relaxed. So, since I was longing for acceptance at this new school on the other side of the country I relaxed my long, black, curly, soft locks. At first I liked it, the other girls were complimenting me on how long and straight it was, but not long afterwards my hair started breaking off. All the pretty hair that went down my back is gone. All I have now is nice, straight, short hair (shoulder length) but it is still breaking off. I really want my healthy natural hair back and I’m asking for suggestions. Should I shave my head bald and let it grow out that way, or should I let it grow along with my relaxed hair, and just cut of the relaxed hair after my natural grows a nice length?
