How to get an even blended hair color when dying hair?!?!please help?

I can never get an even blended color after I dye my hair! I don't know why, the top/roots are always brighter and lighter than the bottom. I know the top and bottom to be light together but the bottom is always so dark and I was wondering if anyone has good techiques on how to make the hair color even on the hair. I recently just died my hair red and I had black hair but then the top was bright and the bottom is like dark almost black and today I will get light brown hair dye and dye it brown and then after dye it red so i can have the color red but my issue is do I dye the bottom first then after that dye the top for 10 minutes to help the color stay even? Thank You!

That's because you're hair is lighter on top than on bottom. Best bet follow the instruction on the box as if you had gray hair and leave it in for extra time. I know it says ten extra minutes but twenty works way better.


Oh yeah, and make sure you're dying it with a Level 3 Dye.

I used to color my own hair, too.... but when you have 2 tones, you really need to spend the $ to have a professional fix it.... I swear, it looks so much better and you spend about the same as you would buying 10 boxes of dye to try to make it right.

you should use a small paintbrush and paint it on the roots all throughout your hair. leave it on for 20 minutes and then pull the color thru the rest of your hair and leave it on for 5 minutes.

i used ot alwasy die my hair and would always have that prob my hairstylis tgave me a great tip run through your hair with the dye in and brish i out and take you hands adn scrub your head really hard and take a towel adn shake it out
