HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY HAIR EXTENIONS?
The following few simple rules will greatly extend the life of your hair extensions!
1. Do not sleep with your hair wet
2. Comb out your hair before shampooing
3. Gently shampoo the hair in one direction only
4. Support your attachment when brushing or combing your hair
5. Use a good vent brush
6. Use a shampoo and conditioner made for dry hair
7. Do not use oil. creme or leave-in conditioner. This will lead to matting or tangling of the hair.
8. If possible, try to keep shampooing of hair to once a week. Frequent shampooing demands extreme care.
9. Remember; when you leave the salon and are looking great-- at that point the stylist has done their job. The responsibility to MAINTAIN the hair is now YOURS. Use common sense and care for your hair as if it were your own... after all, it is!

Here are some tips for caring for your weave:

1. Typically, people comb hair from roots to ends. With weaved hair, you must do the opposite, starting from the ends and moving gradually upwards toward the base.

2. Brush your weave before you shampoo - or shampoo your hair and rinse between the tracks to remove oil and residue.

3. You must abstain from washing hair for two weeks to set the weave. Always use mild water while washing your hair, as water that's too hot or too cold may lock the hair at the base.

4. Avoid using harsh products for washing, styling or conditioning.

5. The use of alcohol-based products strips the hair's oils and you should not use them.

6. Visit your stylist often for care, and make sure you do not skip regular weave tightening touch-ups.

7. Using cotton pillowcases and sheets may adversely affect the shine of your hair. Instead, use a silk or satin scarf to wrap up your hair before going to bed.

8. While blow-drying, you must use a higher heat setting to straighten and dry the hair. Use variable temperatures for natural and commercial hair.

9. If you are at the beach and wish to swim, it's best to use a swim cap. Alternatively, you can saturate and rinse the hair with a cream rinse before plunging in.

10. When undoing a weave, seek the help of a salon professional.

Sometimes, you may get too busy managing your weave and unconsciously neglect your scalp. An unhealthy scalp may lead to skin irritation and other various conditions.

Dirt, sweat, styling products and natural oils are some of the ingredients that interfere with healthy hair. You should regularly shampoo and condition your hair to keep it clean.

Excessive use of styling products has been shown to shorten the longevity of hair extensions as well. Weaves require proper care to retain their beauty and to help you avoid common hair and scalp problems.

The latest rage in hair extentions is the lace front wig. It is also the safest method in obtaining the long beautiful locks you wish for. The lace front wig gives the illustion of hair growing right from your scalp. You can choose from all types of hair and textures. Have you seen what the stars are wearing when it comes to fashion hair lately? Many stars such as Beyonce, Paris Hilton, Tyra Banks, and many more are wearing the lace front wig. The lace front wig is low maintenance and in the long run will cost you less money. These wigs start at $450.00 but when you add up what you can spend on extentions in a year, this is the best way to go. Unlike the lace front wig, extentions causes a lot of stress on the your own hair. Many women have thinning and breakage around the edges after long term extension wear. Your natural hair can be worn wraped or braided under the lace front wig. Hair extentions will become a thing of the past now that the lace front wig have surfaced from the secrets of the stars.

I don't think so that hair extensions can damage your hair if you select the right ones. Of course there are out there many hair extensions that would damage your hair, but I am very convinced that Rodolfo Valentin hair extensions are the best to use if you are lucky enough to live near one of the Rodolfo Valentin salons in the New York area.

If your going to a good salon to have them done then they will tell you everything you need to know how to care for them, they should also offer you the shampoo and conditioner suitable.

They are hard work and get tangled very easy at the root which sometimes causes them to twist and pull your own hair out.

You will need to keep gently combing them to stop the tangling, but can not be brushed like you would your own hair from the root as you will weaken the bonds and they will fall out sooner.

First off, I hope your getting human hair extensions. Second, Don't wash them to often. Only when they get greasy and dirty. This will make the hair last longer and not pull them out of the weave. Always use a styling product before blowdrying, curling, or flat ironing. This will make the hair last longer and better too!! Have fun with them!!!
