I’m trying to grow my natural hair back out. When I was 14, I was teased for having natural hair by other black girls who have gotten their hair relaxed. So, since I was longing for acceptance at this new school on the other side of the country I relaxed my long, black, curly, soft locks. At first I liked it, the other girls were complimenting me on how long and straight it was, but not long afterwards my hair started breaking off. All the pretty hair that went down my back is gone. All I have now is nice, straight, short hair (shoulder length) but it is still breaking off. I really want my healthy natural hair back and I’m asking for suggestions. Should I shave my head bald and let it grow out that way, or should I let it grow along with my relaxed hair, and just cut of the relaxed hair after my natural grows a nice length?

I don't think you should go to the extreme of shaving your entire head. You should let the relaxed part of your hair grown out. As you get more new growth, you can cut the relaxed part of your hair off. DO NOT GET A TOUCH UP! You can get your hair braided for a while as it is growing out. You need to take good care of your hair. Make sure you deep condition and moisturize it! And damn those other black girls for teasing you! DO YOU! Don't be afraid to rock your natural locks!
(If you have a nice shaped head, maybe you can get away with a short cut like Jada Pinkett Smith) :o)

Shaving your head is pretty drastic. Are you planning to wear a wig until it grows up to something you can style?
Instead of doing something extreme like that, stylists recommend that you cut off an inch of relaxed hair for every inch of natural hair that grows out. By the time you have a good length of natural hair that you can style, you can cut off the rest of your relaxed hair and start fresh.

There is no point in shaving your head, It will take the same time to grow it, possibly longer. Just let it i grow naturally, and keep having regular trims.
Here's what really works, warm up some coconut oil, and massage it into your hair and scalp. If you dont have oily scalp, leave it in overnight. Before shampooing, wrap it in hot towel for about 20 minutes. Wait 30 mins and then shampoo. Use a really good shampoo, Pantene is good, and Kerastase or Alterna for weak hair is good too. If you want a chaper alternative, Loreal Elvive's Treatment serums (look like hot oil tubes) in Yellow are amazing.
Taking zinc supplements works wonders too, your new hair will be stronger.
DOnt go bald... let it grow, if you regularly use good repair treatments, it will definitely help.

Don't shave your hair off we don't need another Brittney spears look a like
i think you should cut it short then let it grow out but don't relax it or you will have to start all over don't wear ponytails it will also break your hair off. You also should keep it braided that will bring your natural hair back to. i would know because my hair is breaking off and now i have to cut my hair short just like in the picture that i have posted. Don't think about kids say about you when they say stuff like that that means that they don't have anything good about them and they have to pick on kids like you to make you feel down so that you go and change your whole appearance just fit in or not get teased.

Shaving your head is pretty radical, so I can't say without seeing a picture of you and trying to imagine you with very short hair. So I'd say unless you're 100% sure that you'll be OK with the way you look with super-short hair, let it grow along with your relaxed hair and then cut off the relaxed hair later.

I don't think that shaving your head is going to do you any good; your self-image will go way down, and it'll take forever to grow it out. I have curly hair and I recently got my hair relaxed; but, under one condition; if you want it to be healthy, you have to use an extremely good quality flat iron, and expensive hair products. Also, if you have split ends, about a month after your relaxer, you should have a trim of about 3 inches so that way your hair can grow naturally without split ends. Good hair product brands can include Kerastese, Paul Mitchell, Aveda, and sometiems Redken.

It is completely up to you. hair does grow back. If you do not get your hair taken care of. You may want to go to a salon and tell them to trim it and keep it trimmed because your hair will keep breaking further up till you resolve this matter it is just like split ends. Do not use a brush when brushing your hair use a really think pick or a comb. Try not to blow dry it or flatten it, it will just make it worse. also try using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Also you can try do this once a month Olive oil, because of your breaking your hair is dry really However you should wash your hair in warm water then apply the oil then wash it out really good 3-5 times. Good luck

I do not think you need to shave your head. Before you do anything drastic go see a reputable hair stylist (hairdresser not sure what they prefer to be called.) There are so many hair therapy products that they can suggest. If you do shave your head keep in mind it may take long time to grow to a length you like or even have now.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

Go with that short hair style that Paige has on Trading Spaces. I will be one length when it grows out and it is a very pretty style.

It depends on what your head shape is. If you have a slightly rounded head, then a shaved look could be very pretty! Or, you could just see what happens. Your hair sounds amazing, so I hope you make the right choice!
