Hair - November 2006

Is It OK to let my daughter, who's 12 get highlights?Apparently, this time she wants to get either auburn or blond or brown hilights in her hair, which is naturally black. But I'm a little nervous it about it because i heard it isn't good for your hair and my daughter strangly has white hair already. Her docter said there's nothing she can do and dying her hair wouldn't help. And mabye it's due to stress. But she's only 12! So, should I do it?

I'm active duty and wear my hair the same way every day. I have pretty long hair and refuse to cut it so I just wrap it up in a bun. Can you give me some other ideas for wearing my hair other than in a bun or a way to make the bun a little more interesting? Thanks!!

What is a perm?
How do i get one?
How long does it last?
Because the hair on my sides sticks out, will a perm make it dtay down?
If not, what other solutions are there to do so?

I have medium length brown hair, and it is wavy/straight/and kind of curly in the back. I have to make a decision of whether or not I want to get side swept bangs for my hair in the next couple days. this s my hair procedure... could you please tell me if it is fine or duz it need a change? my hair looks ok, but i qould like it to look amazing!
1) shampoo and conditioner special for straight hair
2) john frieda frizz ease hair serum
3) john f. frizz ease downplay volume reducer one day and the next day (i alternate products) j.f. brilliant brunette simply sleek straightening balm
note: then i go to sleep cuz i shower in night
4) j.f. secret weapon finishing creme and after the styling the moisture barrier firm hold spray
and thats it... what do you think ?

so i been flat ironing my hair TOO much. so my hairdressers says i cant do it cus its damaging my hair. but wut i only flat iron every morning is my bangs. so do you think my hair will be ok if i flat iron JUST my bangs on the coolest setting??? so its not really steaming hot but warm enough i can still touch it without getting burned.

i cant wrap my hair cus i sleep wildly and it falls off. i tie something around my bangs in the morning so its flat when i leave but eventually it sticks up. i cant use rollers because they still fall out and leave too much of a curl.

i am african american with relaxed hair if that helps any.

My daughter is 25 and has developed bald patches on the crown and nape of her hair. She's been told it's stress related and will grow back but she's really down about it. Does anyone know of any herb, or perhaps aromotherapy massage (or any alternative treatment that can help)? I'd be grateful for any advice I can give her, thanks a lot.

I have naturally wavy hair about an inch below my shoulders. I've tried straighteners, and don't get me wrong, they worked...but took me 40 minutes. I'm on the swim team and we swim every morning. That means we only have 30 minutes to get ready. Does anyone know of any hair products that maybe I could apply the night before that will give me straight hair the next day? Or has anyone tried the natural hair relaxers? I would like to give the hair relaxers a try, but I would like some feedback first. Please answer if you have hair similar to mine or went through the same problem. I'm willing to try anything except straighteners, and chemically straightening my hair. Help?

I asked a question about NAir for men and for the most part got a negative response to Nair for men cream so was wondering about the wax strips? Anybody suggest using those instead. I realize I could shave but don't think it would be comfortable and want something that will last at least 3-4 days for the most part.
