I have naturally wavy hair about an inch below my shoulders. I've tried straighteners, and don't get me wrong, they worked...but took me 40 minutes. I'm on the swim team and we swim every morning. That means we only have 30 minutes to get ready. Does anyone know of any hair products that maybe I could apply the night before that will give me straight hair the next day? Or has anyone tried the natural hair relaxers? I would like to give the hair relaxers a try, but I would like some feedback first. Please answer if you have hair similar to mine or went through the same problem. I'm willing to try anything except straighteners, and chemically straightening my hair. Help?

Okay then, I change my mind. I'm willing to go chemical. Give me some good products that you've tried and they actually worked well.

the chemicals in the pool will have an adverse effect on relazed or permed hair, If I were you I would put up with my wavy hair and use shampoos and conditioners specially created for it, You could also try blow drying your hair and putting it into jumbo sized velcro rollers for 15 minutes to help straigthen your hair.

I have naturally curly, thick hair with a frizz problem. I've tried chemically straightening my hair but I think ultimately that exacerbates the problem. I very occasionally use straighteners but am reluctant to use any heat-styling on my hair now. I'd recommend regular cuts with a good hairdresser, using shampoo and conditioner that she recommends, and regular treatments. I have not heard of the natural hair relaxers you mention.

Bear in mind that as you are a serious swimmer your hair is likely to suffer in the water. Do you use a swimming cap? I never found one that worked - I always took it off to find my hair was damp underneath. You can get shampoos that get the chlorine out of your hair and I think it will need extra care because of the swimming.

Sorry, you're kinda screwed :(
The only natural way to do it would be to blow dry it straight, but that would cause heat damage. I wouldn't bother with the "natural hair relaxers" they're a waste of money.

Unless you have "black" hair (I hope that's not an offensive term, sorry if it is) I DO NOT suggest using a chemical straightening either. My friend is of hispanic decent and thought since she had thick, wavy hair she would be okay. BIG mistake. She was almost bald by the time we got the stuff out. And it was only in for about 4 mins.

Black women have naturally kinky/tightely curled hair. If there was a slap on product besides relaxers we would have been there done that. Not trying to sound funny but it is true. You might need to just buckle down and get a relaxer.

They aren't great for your hair neither is constant straightening with heat.

if you swim everyday there really isn't anything that you could do except get it permanently straightened
