I just bought some styling lotion from Kroger (the grocery store). When I went on the Paul Mitchell website, it says you're only supposed to buy their products from salons because the stuff in grocery stores can be fake or old and make you sick. Is that true, or are they just trying to rip you off and scare you?

i have dark brown hair right now, but i want to dye it like a caramel brown color, or ash brown. i'm kind of in a budget, so i wanted to do it myself. what brand should i use. and is it a bad idea to do it myself?? also will this make me look darker?? i've had my hair light b4 and i think i looked lighter, but i've been reading its suppose to make you look darker..........please explain.

BEFORE YOU ANSWER THIS QUESTION..PLEASE READ FIRST WHAT I HAVE ALREADY TRIED FOR VOLUMIZING PRODUCTS:

(when i say a brand i mean.. i've tried their shampoo/conditioner, mousse, gel, and hairspray) and i have tried these all more then once before deciding they dont work.

keep in mind i have long light brown hair and its layered, and i want volume.. and shine

Garnier fructis, Pantene, loreal vive pro, sunsilk, suave, brilliant brunette, herbal essences, paul mitchell shampoo (really shitty shampoo) bed head, frizz ease.. (because of sticking up hair in the front from having a baby) um.. and almost any other volumizing kind, and nothing has worked..

i'm wondering if aussie scrunch spray would work, or L.A looks.. or that new time renewal?

also.. i have a really sensitive scalp, so i cant use anything thats too harsh. i'm allergic to DOVE.

i am desperate for help!!! my hair is full of split ends, i have dark hair which means they stand out from a mile away. i am getting my hair cut every four weeks, but my hairdresser just doesn't seem to get rid of enough of them when she cuts my hair and i feel like i am wasting my time and money!! the last two haircuts i have had i haven't even noticed a difference! i haven't changed anything i have been doing! i have been doing the same things with my hair for about 6 years!!! i am using garnier fructis stuff to treat split ends, but its not working!i have recently lost 26kilos and my hairdresser says its probably linked to that, but she doesn't seem to sure!! i exercise every day and get pretty sweaty and wash my hair sometimes twice a day, but have been doing that all year pretty much! has this happened to anyone else? can you suggest something? are you a hairdresser??? PLEASE HELP!!

I have pretty long hair, it's about as long as Lindsay's in this photo:

Anyway, lately I've seen people with sidebangs and I think that they are so pretty but I'm a bit nervous. Most of the people I see with side bangs, have thin and medium/short hair but I don't have either! My hair is dark brown and is thick (not like African American thick but it's still thick) and I'm not sure if they are right for me. Do you think I should get them? Do you have any websites of people w/ long hair WITH side bangs?
