A bought some from a beauty supply store and it was much less expensive and the exact same stuff. The salons charge to much for their products in my opinion.

The truth is Paul Mitchell is only supposed to be sold in salons. Most likely what has happened ( and this happens alot) is that the buyer for Kroger has purchased this from an outsider in the salon industry. Alot of times salon products are sold to grocery stores when a beauty supplier strictly for salons gets dropped as a client from the manufacture, or they've gone out of business. When this happens most often they are stuck with inventory that cannot be returned or they're still able to make profit by selling to plain ( grocery, retail etc.) Salon products are to be sold only in salons because it's to support the salon industry. Salons use products to not only to make money but it helps them get things like continuing education, and quality of the product. Manufacturer's and salons help each other. The hairstylist gets further education, and the manufacture gets feedback on the products. This is why you shouldn't buy salon products anywhere else but a salon. It gives you the consumer a quality product and the hairstylist more knowledge so you don't have messed up hair. So don't buy salon hair products from the grocery store. It makes your hairstylist uneducated. If you see these products anywhere but a salon, tell the manufacture which products, where it is sold, and what date you saw them. This really needs to stop.

It cannot make you sick. Paul Mitchell will not guarantee the product if it is purchased anywhere other than in a professional salon. This is because it can be purchased at flea market where it is handled by many people and they cannot track where it has been. Someone could put other product in it and sell it as Paul Mitchell. Also it could be very old product and just not do as promised. The product from a salon is moved out in a timely manor, before it gets old and loses holding power. Good luck at buying at a supply house if you do not have a license though.

well some of the Paul Mitchell and salon products carried in grocery stores and drug stores are old. I've bought salon products from these stores and they seem alright for the most part. Oh and btw, if you have a Sallys Beauty Supply near you, you can get a generic Paul Mitchell Styling Lotion like a big 16 oz container for 5.99 or less, I can't remember the exact price but 5.99 tops

No it is not true. They are trying to create the image that they do not support diversion of their product. To say you buy at your own risk of the product still holding it's original quality is to say don't buy our product through someone else but "suppliers and salons" that represent our product. However what most people do not know it that diversion of a product quite often begins it's trail out their own back door of the company itself. Meaning they turn the other cheek so to seem as if they are completely against diversion. But, a companies quota of sales has to be met. So however their salespeople can do it, even if it means to stop by the local flea market en route to their salons. So that comment is not so much to stop the consumer it is to keep them in good standing with the salons so that they continue to buy and sell allot of their product and have their loyal salons feel like the company supports them by having the consumer only be able to get the product from their salon. I have been in the industry for many many years. No matter how professional and quality the product is. It somehow makes it way into Targets,Wallgreens, Albertsons etc. Gee I wonder how that happens?

I work at a hairsalon. The stuff in the regular stores can be old or fake, but usually it has been rerouted there by someone trying to make a profit. Hair salons try to control these sales so they can control price. The only problem is that the company cannot be liable for any defect in the product or damage it may cause because it was not sold to you by a licensed professional.

A good cut is most important for curly hair so find the best stylist you can. As far as products, I recommend Aveda. Their Curesence shampoo/conditioner is the most amazing product ever to use once or twice a week- completely moisturizes and replensihes your hair. And every girl with frizzy hair reading this needs to go buy Biosilk Silk Therapy. I live by it. Whatever style you're going for- wheter you straighten or wear it curly, want it big and volumous or sleek ans simple, it works. Just use varying amounts of the product. A combination of those two and your hair with be run-your-fingers-through smooth, soft, and shiny. I flat-iron most of the time so I can't tell you what curly styles to go for, but as far as hair care, a good cut and these two products will completely solve your frizz problems.

If you buy it from a salon it is guaranteed. They do not sell their products to the drugstores. They are stolen, (maybe sold by the truck drivers) soemhow and sold to the drugstores. They will not guarantee it.
I don't think there would be anything wrong with it, but if there is it would be too bad for you.

i've read that as well, but personally, i think it's a marketing ploy. i've never noticed any difference between buying a salon brand at a salon versus buying it at a drugstore or grocery store or beauty supply store.
if it works for you, why worry about it? :-)
