Hair - August 2006

My hair takes me a year and a half to reach a certain growth after that it wont grow. Can anyone tell me whats good to make my hair grow?

here's the situation..i have dreadlocks and people say that i should use residue free shampoo..but here in the philippines, there are no distributors of such products (ie.dreadhead HQ/knotty boy shampoos).. then i found this body bath and shower gel.. no artificial fragrance and it has natural lavender and tea tree oil..i have read that some people recommend these for dreads but i'm not sure if i should use this product because its for the body/skin..
is it safe to use shower gel for my hair?? thanx guys!

my hair is totally unruly. i cant control it! the only way i can straighten it is at a salon. bit i recently moved adn there are no salons and hours length away !! i need my hair straightened and i have african american hair. so regualar staightened works. I dont have a hot comb. what should i do?? i dont want any wise *** remarks either that involve a wig , shaving my hair or anything else like that so..ya lol thx

How much should I tip when I get my hair highlighted? It costs almost $80 and takes like 1 1/2hrs. As far as I know my hairdresser rents a chair if that makes a difference. Just curious! Thanks

I have naturally curly hair. I straighen it about twice a week, so I don't want to get my hair relaxed. I have a good striaghtener and when I straighten my hair I can get it to be really straight. But the problem is that in the morning it's very humid so when I walk outside my hair gets poofy and slightly wavy. Are there any good products out there that can help my hair stay straight even when there's moisture in the air?

i'm african american and for my hair to be straight i get perms or flat ironed. do you guys get that or is it naturally like that? i'm thinking about going natural or get it straightened because i'm scared perms are going to take my hair out. so i actually have two questions do other ethnicities get their hair permed and what should i do with my hair?

Whenever I finish washing my hair it is wavy and curly and I want it to stay that way throughout the school day which is like 7 hours. I not sure if I should use gel, mousse or hair spray to keep it like that. Also, if I use one of these products, should I just apply it on all my hair all together or go through each curly strand of hair and apply? Please help! School is starting soon!

I do not understand why people want to use pantene or any store bought product for that matter. Pantene leaves build up on hair and has formeldahyde, and floor wax in it. What is wrong with those people??? Salon products might be a little more than store bought but you get better quality and better results on hair. I want to tell all these people STOP USING STORE BOUGHT PRODUCTS ESPECIALLY PANTENE.
