Speaking for white people, mostly Caucasian hair is straight or slightly wavy...although some white people have very curly hair. I'm not sure how popular perms are these days (haven't had one since I was 11...), but usually Caucasian hair can get curly or straight just by curlers, irons, or straightening irons. As for your hair, I'm no expert, but I'd find a look you really like and then get the chemical work done you need to achieve that look. Generally, the less you mess around with your hair (for any race...) the better. I just tried to go from light blonde to dark blonde and my hair turned GREEN!!! But, that's another story!!!!!!!! Good Luck!

Their hair is naturally straight. Usually slightly wavy w/ caucasians, but I've never met a mexican/ indian with curly or wavy hair.
Perming your hair will damage it, but the damage will be minimal if you moisturize it daily and wear a good scarf to bed every night. Permed hair is VERY easy to manage and allows more styling variety. I have a perm and I love it!! Woo!! Also, the older you are the less often you should get it permed. Talk to you hair dresser about how often you should have an appointment. Do whatever makes you happy!

Caucasians certainly do! I can't answer for anyone else.

I don't know what to tell you about your hair. I know caucasian hair gets fried after too many perms. It has to be treated with conditioners a lot. Generally speaking, after too many perms we end up cutting it short so it can grow back out healthy. Maybe you should talk to a cosmetologist and get some information before you do anything to it. Personally, I quit with the perms a few years ago. I just try to find something that my hair can do naturally that looks nice. It's so much easier than fighting with your hair and frying it with chemicals. It always looks better and healthier too.

some white people who have really curly or coarse hair get it permed...same goes for any race. about your hair, getting it permed will certainly allow you to manage it more easily. it won't have such a dramatic reaction when it gets wet, for instance. i'm african american and have a lot of hair, but my hair was a lot thicker when i was younger; before the perm. so it all depends on what you wanna do. if you get a perm, your hair will still be pretty, and it will be easily managable, but it just won't be as thick, and you will have to keep up with it (about once a month, or every 6 weeks). if you don't get it, you'll just have to stick with what you've been doing. good luck! :)

Anyone can get a perm. It usually means they are getting it curly though. Everyones hair has a different texture, thickness and feel to it. Some white, mexican, and indians have naturally straight hair, most dont. My hair is wavy but I blow dry it straight and then use a flattening iron for a smoother, sleeker look.

I am African-American and that is such a GOOD QUESTION!
And everyone should know that you mean the type pf perm that makes hair STRAIGHT. (white people's "perm" makes hair curly)

I heard a rumor that Mariah Carey got her hair permed...I think that many whites probably Can and Should use perms, but maybe they don't know that they can..Alot of whites have that frizzy, messed up hair--and they could use a good perm.

Peace
