How much should I tip when I get my hair highlighted? It costs almost $80 and takes like 1 1/2hrs. As far as I know my hairdresser rents a chair if that makes a difference. Just curious! Thanks

Fifteen percent is standard ($12.00), but if you really LOVE what she did to your hair, you should tip twenty percent ($16.00). Hope this helps. I usually tip twenty percent, since hairdressers buy a variety of products to use on their customers, rent their space, and are professionals.

I usually tip them just like I tip a waitress. If they do a good job, I'll tip anywhere from 15-20%. If they rent a chair, I tip them more becuase they're not being paid by that place really, so I usually tip a little better. But if they take too long, don't listen to me, or cut it wrong, then I tip a little lower. :)

I would say that $20 dollars would be a good tip. A bit more if you really like what she did and less if you didn't. I know that they do like to get a good tip for a job done well. After all, it is her that makes your hair look nice highlighted right?

I am a hair stylist and generaly we get tiped 15 to 20%. Yes it may have taken an hour and a half but you need time for the hair color to process and time is also money! Hope your hair looks great!!

if you tip her good and when its time for you to come back they will treat you well in return... i would say like 15 or 20... its a long process and they could be working on other people (more $$$) while your in their chair... :)

If you get taxed x 3= tip. That what it should be unless you get a lousy service.

I agree - $5 shows that you respect her and her talent - but also won't blow your budget. If you can afford a little more than tip a bit more - but $5 should be the minimum
