I had my hair dyed a semi-permanent medium brown at a salon, a little over two months ago, to cover the red that I had dyed my hair a few months before that. Well, my roots have lightened, but the rest of my hair is a mixture between the medium brown and red. I went to a salon today to have my hair color lightened, and she only did my roots a medium blonde color. I told her that I thought it looked strange, and that I wanted the color pulled through to the ends. She basically told me that the only way to lighten my hair color would be to add highlights, and other than that I have to wait for the semi-permanent to wash out (BUT ITS BEEN MORE THAN TWO MONTHS!). Well, I don't want highlights. I want one single color all over my head, a dark blonde to light brown. Do I need a double process to lighten my hair? And what exactly does a double process entail? Otherwise, what are some other ways to lighten my hair (at a salon)?
