I've notice that a woman can have otherwise beautiful facial features, but if her nose is disproportionately big, then it ruins her overall appearance- but if the nose were proportionately smaller, then she'd suddenly look beautiful. Granted there are certainly exceptions, I think the most attractive proportions are big eyes and lips with a small nose.

No there is no scientific explanation as to why big noses are unattractive. SOCIETY says they are.
I know quirte a few people that are really beautiful but have larger noses than what people call "normal". I have a larger nose than "normal" and it fits my fave perfectly.
Having a big nose does not ruin your overall physical appearance anyways.
People are too caught up in, "Do I look good?", "Are my breasts to small , need implants", "Is my nose too big" (when its actually smaller). etc.
It's all BS
But people can decide to not like someone or not be their friend because they have a big nose. Isnt that persons personality and being much more important than appearance? I would hope so. Otherwise you would just have shallow friends, including yourself.

Well, physical beauty is about symmetry - nature favors it because symmetrical bodies are usually more fit to survive in an environment. For example, running away from a wild animal with one leg would be very difficult. Read up on natural selection. Big eyes are attractive probably because it helps our race survive - bigger eyes means a wider scope. Although I can't think of anything that would be detrimental about big noses. At any rate, Im just speculating. You should be confident and proud of the way you look.

I don''t know about for females, but I am actually attracted to guys with big noses, if they have a nice face, tanned olive skinned then I am more attracted if they have a big nose, I even told my boyfriend. For example a lot of italians have a nice olive skin tone, perfect hair, and a big nose but I think it's SO HOTT!!! So there should be guys out there who probably feel the same way about females... Don't worry, we are as sexy as the confidence that we exude from ourselves. You are beautiful!

It's all about what we're used to from the beginning of times. Big noses are not normal. When it's too big, we thing it's different and don't like it.
If you only see big nosed people all your life,and suddenly see someone with a smaller nose, you'll probably won't like it.

Studies have been done about faces - which ones are thought to be attractive or not attractive. Interestingly enough, people responded to pictures that had certain facial proportions and they picked faces with big eyes and big lips (used for sexual signaling.) Perhaps noses take the focus off those other important areas.

there is nothing scientific about this. Some people like big noses, my guy has a bubble on his face and sexy as hell! I love it, I squeeze it when I think about it and tease him all in one ( teasing is done in fun) . It is a family trait that he inherited. Noses are hereditary and it is not written anywhere that says" big noses are unattractive"! Some races are known to have bigger or broader noses. You might as well just cross races out if this is the case.

thousands of years ago this would have been attractive to you because we used to use them to smell danger and if you had a little nose the chances are you could be eaten alive ,,,we used to use all our senses to the full our ears would have been bigger too ,its only the last few hundred years or more it has become a sexual thing,,we never used to bother with things like this woman never shaves either if fact if we all stopped shaving our legs and under arms it would be a right put off today but years ago it would be this hair that turned you on ,it just goes to show how we have changed ,,,

Actually there is! It's called the Golden Ratio, and very simply it states that symmetry is most attractive to us. So someone with a nose out of proportion to their face would not be symmetrical. It's a very interesting theory.
