Haven't flown with equipment since 9/11. Is it better to check it as baggage? I would prefer to carry it on but think long metal tubes would raise some eyebrows. Personal experience please, not speculation.

I'm going to have a photographer take some pictures of me soon and one of the settings I wanted to do was in a very nice bathroom (weird I know, but long story). She has reservations because she uses a b&w camera with no flash and is worried because there may be little or no outside light. She explained how indoor light is not enough. How can this be remedied without buying one of those huge backlights that are in photog studios?

The effect I want to achieve is a sharp, centered subject(portrait) with blurred edges. Instead of buying filters, I would like to do this with aperture and shutter speed settings. I want to experiment with different settings, both inside and outdoors with or without a flash. Will be using 800 speed film in a Nikon F-5 and speedlight. Any info will be appreciated, thank you.

I would like to take a couple of my black & white photos & have the eyes in color. Is there any programs that allow you to easily do that? Any programs that I can download for free or download a free trial? Thanks.

Photographers, if you had to choose between the Canon 30D and the Nikon D80, which would you choose and why? I'm not too concerned with lenses at this time, I pretty much know which direction to go there, just concerned with a good body. I'm a novice photographer switching my platform to digital and I'm really torn between the two, with the biggest difference between them being price. As a newcomer to photography, should I concern myself with buying a good body, regardless of price, or is one truely better than the other?

Hey,

I would like to ask a question about my digital camera and it's settings. I would like to know what settings to set it on to get my pictures to come out like the human eye is seeing. I don't know how to explain, I mean when I take a picture it's like the flash picks up too much of the object I'm taking, I would like to know how far away should I be from the target to get the picture to come out like the human eyes sees it. For example if you take a close up of someone, with the camera and the flash you tend to see the pores of the person of some small mark, which you don't see with your eyes. My questions is what seetings (ISO, White Balance etc..) and how far away should the camera be from the object. Do you think without the flash you take more "human eye" pictures, because I think that with the flash the picture comes out better. Thanks for your help I hope you understand my question!

I've got a variety of older Yashica, Konica, and Pentax cameras. I've found that I really prefer the older shutter speed dials to manually control the exposure. I use a Canon Rebel X when I need to shoot quickly, but I hate the interface for controlling this type of camera manually. Is there a camera with older-style controls that can still be autofocus, autowinding, etc?
