Fashion photographers are not involved in the process of creating the garments or whatever the models are trying to display, but simply a photographer that takes photograph of models wearing designs made by a fashion designer.
How fashion photographers are different from others? Well they have a certain amount of knowledge on how is it best to show the fashion designs made. A fashion photographer can somehow give little instruction on how the model should pose, where to look, what to do and etc.
Fashion designers usually tend to get aid from Art Directors to help them bring the image they're looking for to life when it comes to Editorial (for magazines/ads) photoshoos. Art directors would choose a theme, a set, set designer and more creative staff in order to accomplish the image needed. And of course they'd pick a fashion photographer, which would meet the whole shoot's requirements.

Fashion photographer is the one who photograph what the Fashion designer had designed!

A fashion photographer is a photgrapher who takes pictures of fashion for magazines, etc. They take pictures of models.
