I'm auditioning for 'The Crucible' at my school...the problem is I'm an underclassmen and my school plays politics...which is the only reason I DON'T make it into any of the productions. Can anyone tell me how to best prepare for this audition? I'm trying out for Abigail Williams...don't know why, but the role of a villain seems attracting.

Advice I would appreciate are things like should I read the script beforehand, should I wear what I would envision an modern Abby wearing, etc.? (Since the auditions are run where you are randomly called up to read a random character's lines, do you have any suggestions on how not to screw up on that, too?)

Just generally. The very least for an actor starting out and the very most you could get paid.

I am thinking of participating in the musical "Oklahoma" for my school and last year I was actually (not bragging) the best actor up there cause I didn't give a crap about the audience. I am probably gonna get a main part this year and I was wondering, what is this play about?

They say only a few are accepted out of like 200 kids. And they tell you the fees range from 1500 to 6000 dollars for the acting classes. Does anyone know if this is a scam or is it legit? Is my little guy that adorable? ;) Or do they want my money? Help!

I was a SAG member as a child and I suppose my mother stopped paying my dues. Is it now easier to get back in? Or do i have the same eligibility as anyone else who's never been a member?

So I am pretty much teaching myself. Although I am taking a class but you don't ever have to audition for anything. They pretty much give anyone the part! The only reason I am playing Juliet is because I asked mrs. Karren if I could audition. I got the part but I feel as though it was handed to me although mrs. karren said I was great for Juliet.
I have asked for more lessons or anything but I don't think anyone really knows what they are doing. Romeo is not serious at all and he only jokes and won't rehearse and I can't say anything because I don't want to seem like one of those chicks who think they are all that and deserve every lead.
I feel like I am being held down...
I want to work for somthing! There aren't any other places ofering classes or lessons but my freind Blair and her sister Britney are into acting. Blair goes to tons of auditions and I can't find any!
My parents won't help cuz they don't know anything about acting. They laughed when I said I wanted to act and

As an actor and Musical veteren, I tend to spend most of my time with people who love the genre, but as I read review after review of Tim Burtons film adaptation of Sweeney Todd, almost all of them preface or end the review with "I/Most people don't like Musicals..."

My question is, why is this? Are people not willing to suspend their disbelief for a few hours and go with the idea that people can spontaneously break into song? Personally I think REAL life would be a lot better that way, but I digress.

Anyone here willing to delve into the human psyche, put your finger on the pulse of society, and venture a guess as to why Musical Theatre is so looked down upon today? Best answer gets 10 points!

I was wondering is anyone out there that could give me tips on staying in character. I'm the type of person that likes to go out in public and act like this character far beyond prodution time so that I have a feel for them and I know and understand them.
What would you recommend? I just hate going out there and not being believable. I want it to like it's coming straight from my soul.

I'm a trying out for the play Copacabana. I want a leading role and I've been researching it. I'm trying to get into character but I don't know much about it. I was informed that there would be loads of dancing and singing. But I was wondering is there anyone out there that could tell me more about this play. Are there any websites that have any of the lines to it. I really want this to be something I am involved in and I'm commited.
