i recently took part in a middle school play as the 8th grade stage manager but was in charge of the other grades as well, my teacher who has been in drama for over 20 years said that i did a phenomenal job as stage manager and asked me to be the assistant stage manager at her theater,my question is how can i prepare for the stress and tension of an actual theater since i have never worked in an actual theater and because the play i mentioned earlier was my first as a stage manager, i really enjoyed it and was sad when it was over, i want to do this assistant job but i dont know what to expect or how to prepare, pleaseeeeee help me

Hey,
I am a 16 year old girl and live in London. As I am currently paying for Stagecoach, I cannot afford an agent. I wanted to know if there are any sites online that will list auditions for acting and theatre, which don't charge you.
Please help me if you can!

I would love to have a job as a set designer/builder, both for entertainment venues (theaters, concerts) but also for conference venues (convention centers, etc.). I have experience in technical drawing, a degree in art, and quite a bit of construction experience. Any ideas for where to look for such jobs??

you seriously seem to know alot about this industry. i'd really like your advice on something. see, i'm 14, i'm doing very well at school, i have a knack for persuading people and impressing, i play in a represeentative basketball club [AAU team in america really similar] and i totally love the performing arts. i'm really new though. i've
been doing drama for less than a year and fluked my way into this high-profiled agency just because of my social skills. my friends don't know about my drama, and all the mean cocky classmates in drama are nice to me now. i'm staying in new york for a month and ten days this summer [winter for americans] and am thinking of visiting plays, going sightseeing, meeting family and so on. when i get back i'm going to attend a lineup of auditions. I'm not pursuing acting solely, i know how hard it is. but i love it. i'd just like to know if there was any chance you'd be in new york over the summer? [winter] if so, look me up, or just reply to this question

we have about 30 students and not all want to actually be in the play also its got to have some educational value--classics are good--and not really boring or waaaaaaay to hard. some we've done before:

1. school for scandel
2. the crucible
3. taming of the shrew

any ideas for plays? thanks!

Hey, I'm looking for scenes/plays with at least 3 people. I don't necessarily want realism-it's for a very important showcase, and I want to do both ends of the comedy/drama spectrum, and I would LOVE to show off my skills as a character actor. If you know of a play with a genie, witch, etc, I think that'd be really fun, as would something like a cocaine addict or a mentally handicapped person. (like Beth in Samuel Sheppard's A Lie of the Mind (there are no 3 person scenes with her)

so I would really appreciate any help if you have any ideas.

I need a humorous play or other dialogue for two people for our school's speech club. We're both middle school guys, so something geared toward that age group (and gender) would be good. The requirements are that it can't be any longer than 8 minutes and it HAS to be something actually copyrighted, such as a real script or an excerpt book. Thanks for any help.

This is going to be our high school musical this year. I have some concerns. I don't know what part to try out for... I have some questions for those who know about it or have done it previously. All I know is that our version is more like the movie with Dick van Dike. DOES THE PERSON WHO PLAYS KIM HAVE TO BE A SOPRANO? How high are the songs with her? DOES ROSE HAVE TO BE AN ALTO? If you had to describe the person best suited for Kim, Rose and the Mother (eg. experience and talent) what would you want? My strength that NO one in our music department has is that I am a strong actress and I have good reactions and faces. Don't get me wrong- I am a great singer too- I have won awards as the choir member of the year. I don't know the musical too well- just saw the movie- and i feel that i need to know more about the what it takes to play the lead girl roles. SO my main question is WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE KIM, ROSE OR THE MOM. or any other part that u may suggest.

Personally I really think Will Smith iz way better, as you can see on the big screen he has portrayed many different characters and emotions, he's my inspiration, but Denzel seems to play the same role, and acting the same way, he bores me.....

For AP English I have to read a play post-1945 and compare its tragic elements to that of the ancient greek tradegies. I'm not worried about that part. I'm not well-versed on modern plays, and need some reccommendations on ones that I would find interesting (being an 18 year old male). I like thought-provoking plays, really anything that's unique and interesting. For example, my favorite books are Native Son and The Catcher in the Rye, if that helps. Thanks.
