I am thinking of participating in the musical "Oklahoma" for my school and last year I was actually (not bragging) the best actor up there cause I didn't give a crap about the audience. I am probably gonna get a main part this year and I was wondering, what is this play about?

could it be a little bit more condensed? like the plot itself and a conflict if there is one (I hope there is, boring without.)

Setting: Oklahoma territory during the early 1900's

plot: two characters, laurey and curly love each other and don't want to admit it. in order to make curly jealous she goes with her farmhand named jud fry to the box social. jud fry is kind of a creepy guy who wants something more than just pictures of women. There is a big conflict between curly and jud. meanwhile Ado Annie is the comedy relief who just can't say no to men. Will Parker loves Ado but she just can't decide between him and the peddler Ali Hakim. Ali is a person who doesn't want a really serious relationship, he gets caught in a pretty big mess!

I reccomend watching the movie, personally i didn't like the movie very well but the stage version is a lot better. Oklahoma was the last show i was in and I absolutely loved it, the best one yet.

Curly and Laurie are in love but don't want to admit it to one another, which leads to some misunderstandings.

Judd Fry is sexually attracted to Laurie and wants Curly out of the way.

There is friendly conflict between the farmers and the cowboys, but everyone pretty much gets along.

It's about starting a new life in a "brand new state."

Curly and Laurie get married and of course they are going to live happily ever after in Oklahoma.

It's mostly about the settling of the Oklahoma territory and building family homesteads.

Why not just rent the movie first? It won't be the same as doing the play, but at least you'll have some idea of what you're in for...
