So I am pretty much teaching myself. Although I am taking a class but you don't ever have to audition for anything. They pretty much give anyone the part! The only reason I am playing Juliet is because I asked mrs. Karren if I could audition. I got the part but I feel as though it was handed to me although mrs. karren said I was great for Juliet.
I have asked for more lessons or anything but I don't think anyone really knows what they are doing. Romeo is not serious at all and he only jokes and won't rehearse and I can't say anything because I don't want to seem like one of those chicks who think they are all that and deserve every lead.
I feel like I am being held down...
I want to work for somthing! There aren't any other places ofering classes or lessons but my freind Blair and her sister Britney are into acting. Blair goes to tons of auditions and I can't find any!
My parents won't help cuz they don't know anything about acting. They laughed when I said I wanted to act and

said I didn't have a shot. Well I want to work for somthing andI am willing to give up anything for an oppertunity!

Yes I understand that I must be thick skinned for this sort of thing and that I must be used to rejection! Thats what I said my parents but they don\'t listen!

And another thing, you will probebly say that if I can't face rejection from my parents then there is no way I'll be able to face it from proffessionals. Well let me say this:

Those people know what they are talking about unlike mom and dad. They don't know me so even If they said I was horrible it couldn't hurt because they know what they are talking about and they don't know me! You can't take it heart!

I just love acting. I want to learn!!!! And I shall not let some kid on the internet tell me that I can't act because you people don't know me! You have never seen me act so you can't hurt me if that Is what you wish to do.
I'll take you critizium and turn it into somthing useful wheather you like it or not.

By the way, I am 14, not ten.....

First, brush up on your spelling. Right now, that is more important than your acting. Secondly, understand that most people who are actress or actor wannabes will remain so forever. The hard truth is that show business is VERY tough to get into and most people never do. It is a business of connections (knowing the right people), having the right "look" and a number of other things. Mostly, making connections. You need tons of school plays under your belt and tons of community theater. You also need tons of talent, unless of course you have the right "look" then talent is secondary. Anyway, settle for school plays at this point and try some community theater. The most important thing is to get a good education first and foremost because one day you will need to get a good job and support yourself. Your friends may be going on auditions but they probably are landing very few actual paying gigs (if any). And you say you can't find any auditions. Dear, why not ask your friends whom you say go to them all the time. They might know. And remember, to be an actress is to face monumental amounts of rejection and you admit you are afraid to act serious because you might seem like one of those "chicks" who think they are all that and deserve every lead. With a cowardly little attitude like that, you won't even cut it as Juliet. Stay in school, work hard, join community theater (in SOME community) and go from there.

You got some good answers there. You definitely need experience. Whether you have it or not will show when you go up in front of an agent or a casting director. So if you are serious about acting, you will stop trying to teach yourself and let a professional teach you.
And yes, you will need to learn a lot about the business.
Have a browse around my site for new and aspiring actors. You might want to start with this page: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/teen_acting.html

You will certainly find some answers to your questions as well as some help.

Hey, i know exactly what you are going through i have(still am gojng through that in a sense- i was handed Juliet and Romeo was joking around all the time) SO what i did was that i took my yellowpages and looked for a new acting class, which i go to now, we do sing, act dance so its better but im still not satisfied ( i dont know about you but whenever we have an acting class its always impro. they never TEACH us techniques ect.)
Why dont u ask your friend how she gets auditions, and practise acting together.

Im not sure what your town is like but try go get opportunities yourself adn your parents show they that you ARE SERIOUS work hard in school and prove that you can manage it, also tell them to motivate you not bring your confidence down!

Hope i helped

Your first answser makes a lot of sense. You need a ton of experience and training before you will be considered for anything. If your friends get all kinds of auditions, why don't you just ask them how they get them? (And let me know as well, so I can tell my other students). If they are your friends, they will tell you. Your parents won't help because all parents want to protect their kids and know how difficult it is to become an actor. Unfortunately, to succeed as a kid, you need them. You cannot do anything until you are 18 without their consent because of the labor laws.
