It's a truism that it doesn't necessarily have to stick to a regular tee tum tee tum rythm of unstressed and stressed syllables, so what does it have to stick to? To put it another way is there such a thing as a line of ten syllables that is definitely not iambic pentameter? If so, how would you tell?

I'm trying to get an extensive checklist of "things to do" in order to ensure the smooth running of an Amateur Musical Theatre production? I need to include EVERYTHING so that I can assign tasks to committee members! and so that we don't forget to do anything. It would also be good to have the "things to do" related to a timeframe... for example - "Start looking for location to do rehearsals - 16 weeks before show starts" ..etc...

I have to recite a speech at a conference. I'm the world's quietest person, I just don't like public speaking. Everytime I do it, I:
1) Forget my lines
2) Stutter
3) Become SO nervous
4) Can't talk

How do I beat this? (And don't say alcohol. Trust me, I've done that before too, and it wasn't pretty)

you watch tv and hear them say a line so you say it as well but it just doesn't sound 'real' or the same. why is that?

I'm blonde and I always take choir and I'm currently a junior auditioning for the role of Sandy in Grease on Friday. I really want this part, and I've practiced the audition song "It's raining on prom night" countless times, but I've never had a huge part in any musicals at our school. (I did tech crew last year, and the year before that, I did a small speaking part in a musical at my old school) So there's new directors this year, and I think I might just have a chance, which kind of makes me more anxious. So anyone have some nice good audition advice to calm my nerves? Should I rest my voice? Should I practice the song? Should I relax? What should I wear? And so on... 10 points to the person who's most soothing and encouraging

I am a 15 year old male who really enjoys acting. So far I have only done stage plays but I'd like to try to land a commercial or two. I live in a town of moderate size in Wisconsin, with access to Minneapolis and Milwaukee, and even Chicago if the role is worth it. Does anyone out there have any tips on how I should get started? There are so many sites out there about this I don't know what to do. Please only serious help!

Thanks.
