You need to play the verb. If you don't understand that take an acting class based on stanislavsky. Acting is about action. When you can associate a transitive verb with every beat of your line and rehearse it enough to get it into your physical memory then it will sound "real". If you don't play the verb, try to emote, or rehearse enough then it will never sound right.

Decide what you think the character would consider phony sounding. Try a few lines in that sort of pretentious voice. Then try the lines in what would sound like an honest voice to your character.
If you don't know the difference, find a hobby.

You need to feel the emotion and the line. But saying a line the first time is hard to get the right emotion. Thats why cold reads suck.

The simple truth is that acting is more about putting something of yourself into the character. You have to think, how would I react in this situation, and also apply your own experiences to it. No two actors will have the same interpretation of the same material.

I'll quote Stanley Kubrick:

"real is fine, but interesting is better"

Every person/actor has their own personality, so it's a bad idea to try to sound just like another actor doing that line.
That is a sure-fire way to sound "fake".
So you have to really find your own voice.

Try re-wording the line to suit your style, then put yourself in the characters place and read it as it was before: with the same emotion.

You have to feel what that character is feeling . If you can't feel that you may need to take some acting lessons. That's the only way you sound real . Is to feel what they are feeling .

Being natural as possible. Some people tend to overact, or yell, when its not necessary. Just be natural, think and recall certain emotions and apply that to your acting. Be subtle, that's the key.

Acting is re-acting. Clear the extraneous thoughts from your head pay attention to what other characters are saying to you and react truthfully as the character you are portraying.
