About 90% of all acting roles are not advertised. You need to know the right people or have an agent who knows the right people to get an audition for these roles.
I'm assuming you're a fully trained musical theatre actor with some previous experience, otherwise, best bet is to get yourself trained and then work your way up from the bottom and build a name for yourself probably before you can evern get a decent agent.
Good Luck!

You learn first by joining a local group that puts on plays and musicals. You then might get small parts and if you are any good you will get the bigger parts. You then take it from there and look for auditions and attend. You will have many disappointments but you must keep at it. After local amateur groups find a local theatre group in your area and see if there is anything there. The other way is to attend a stage school and as you get on they will find auditions for you. It is a long and hard road to even limited success so be prepared for it. There are a great number of out of work actors. Oh yes, you would need to join Equity, the acting and stage union.

I shall be firm but fair.
You have to be a trained professional with some experience to do this sort of work.
Companies do not audition amateurs, ever.
This is an area of expertise that requires more than just skill.
If you want to do this sort of thing, train on an acredited course and work your way up to major productions.
The second answer here is completely at odds with reality.
No-one walks in off the street and gets a job in a West End musical.
That is an insult (albeit unintended) to the professionals who work in the industry.

If you get a copy of 'the stage' (in the UK that is)it will give pages of auditions, and castings etc.If you have the talent and believe in yourself, then try out for these auditions .Of course they have thousands trying to get the same job as you so competition will be tough,i guess a lot of it comes down to what the casting director is actually looking for and whether or not you fit that ideal. Why shouldn't people just 'walk into the job'so to speak.you dont strictly have to go to drama school to get into the bussiness. You either have it ,or you dont.plus going to uni isn't a free -enrty into the world of show bussiness!

Go into the Big brother house, onto x factor, do something newsworthy like have an affair with a poitician...something like that. Of course it'll cause bad feelings with those of us who spent three years at University and all their lives gaining skills to do the job you want to walk into without any hard work attatched. But...good luck, you;ll certainly need it...and a thick skin!!!!
