I have to memorize a monologue from The Sea-Gull by Anton Chekhov for my IB Theatre class. I'm kind of stuck on ways to make this easier for me. I'm not very good at memorizing things in general...I do better by actually learning the material.

Any suggestions or tips?
Please help!

I'm also looking for somewhere that has monlogues for Narnia (there might be something with the white witch) Mean girls (maybe something from Regina) or any other stuck up, catty monologues like I said above. Thank You!

I almost instinctively put on a confident face, even though I'm usually an emotional wreck inside. I worry that if I show any sign of weakness people will use it against me. Is this being paranoid, or just plain smart?

My daughter would like to perform a humorous selection for her high school speech team, so far she is not satisfied with the selections available at school. Does anyone know where we might be able to find more humorous selections for her to choose from? These selections are usually 5 to 7 min long, and the single performer does multiple characters.

I have been to see Cats and Mumma Mia and I thought they are both really good. I have seen adverts for others up at tube stations but I don't know if they are any good. Are there any places I can look for honest reviews or can anyone give me a serious pointer as to a good musical in London to see?

Well, my local theater is performing "A Christmas Carol", and I simply LOVE musicals! Another theater is performing "A White Christmas", which is also a musical. My friends will all be auditioning for ACC (A Christmas Carol), but AWC (A White Christmas) is more professional. I really like the idea of both shows, but I don't think my parents do. You see, I have this test coming up for a private school, and I will also be representing my school in a local spelling bee. The test is in, I believe, late December or so while the bee is in mid March, so I can do both. I can't do both shows, of course, because they're at the same time. ACC is from mid October to early or mid December. AWC is from late October to late December. I'd have to miss school for AWC, so that probably won't work out (I have other plans this year, so I'll have almost TEN unexcused absenses by the end of it all). Any ideas? I simply LOVE performing, and I want to do this! HELP!

PS If you have any audition tips, please

I want to audition at this community theatre place, but we have to be able to sing, and I am slightly tone-deaf at times, which makes me self-concious about my voice. I have to hear and memorize what a note is supposed to sound like in every song(I know the notes don't change, it's just something I have to do)or I go flat or sharp. I have a great range, my audition piece is "O Holy Night", and I rock it 80% of the time. My sister offered to teach me(she's a voice teacher), but the last time she helped me she said I couldn't sing and put me way down about it. She, of course, can sing like Whitney Houston before she was on drugs. Should I try out and risk looking like an idiot, or should I restrict my singing to the shower?

I need advice, resources, inspiration, etc...because I just agreed to be my high school's drama club advisor. (It's actually performing arts, not just drama.) The previous advisor is not around to guide me. I'm on my own. Anyone with experience willing to point me in the best direction to start? I'm an English teacher with a couple years under my belt, but this is a new role for me.
