poem 1
I just stopped by to take a look
And see if anyone owned this book
No owner did I see around
So I thought I'd jot this little poem down.

Odds and ends
I thought our love was such a dilly
I wish someone would slap me silly!
---------
I know that I have goofed again
Cuz this ain't how its pose to been!
--------
smoke smoke makes you choke
too much of it makes you croak!
------------
sue sue sticked like glue
like to stick her on the bottom of my shoe
then when i need her I don't got to look
All I got to do is pick up my foot!
--------
while walking down the road one day
I felt the urge to go astray
I wandered off the beaten path
And now I wonder where I'm at!
---------
He's gone so very far away
I know this time he's gone to stay
I'll wipe my tears, be sad no more
And watch TV and not the door!
----
hope you all enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed writing them

They sit atop the dresser
on the veil that she used
to cover her head with on Sundays
still and curled
like a cat napping on a carpet

she's been gone twelve years now
but I can no longer bring myself to move them
in fact, I only held them in my hands
once
and that was after her first birthday had passed
after she had past
passed from past
its quaintness fails
to move me
black as habit
oily from the daily supplication
her finger strembling like her eyelid strembling like her lip strembling
to pray for those less fortunate than her
she would kneel and clutch the beads
as if they were the lifeline
to eternity
but to eternity she's gone
and only the beads remain.

IF I ONLY HAD A LIFE

(Sung To The Tune Of 'If I Only Had A Brain')

I could wile away the hours
Creating profound towers
Of joy, triumph and life
And my mind I’d be using
While my talents I’m not losing
If I only had a life.

I could even solve great riddles
While helping individuals
In trouble or in strife
With the thoughts I’d be thinking
I could make the world less stinking
If I only had a life.

I might even find a girlfriend
Might even start a new trend
Becoming a shining knight
And find myself more human
Realizing this means I have won
If I only had a life.

(I think I'll go read a book or something.....or not.)

Or perhaps it’s not. As you will know instantly it’s a hy-bred. I only made this old schoolyard adage a little more interesting, a bit of social satire.

Octemburary

Thirty days has September,
April, June and November.
All the rest have thirty-one
Except Octemburary, which has none.*

*However, a bill has just been introduced in Congress that
should ensure Octemburary of it’s full and equal rights.

(Yes, I know it's rubbish. But at least it's harmless rubbish.)

Of Dreams and Nightmares

In the night I feel the cold take hold
I reach for comfort and it is gone
I turn and turn trying to sleep
But tears washes sleep away
why am I so alone?
Why does love turn so cruel?
I am awake, but I dream,
Dreams of touches and caresses,
Whispers and kisses.
My dreams are my nightmares
my hopes are my despair
I try to reach out to others
But they turn away
Only in the final sleep can I feel no pain.
But my heart will not let me
It says dreams can come true
If I only truly believe.
Do you?

We Need Love Of Each Other
Written By Semper Fi Reborn 9/21/07

Why don't dead people or babies,
Ever hate their neighbors?
Why don't they make up rumors,
When asked for favors?
Don't say that, One's an infant,
And the Other's expired.
Because One is pure,
And the Other got tired!
Of the rants and ravings,
Of the hateful souls.
That make you rather die,
Than be born or grow old.

I have the media talking,
March here and march there.
But when the march is done,
Is there love anywhere?
Is there love that comes out,
When the cameras stop?
Was that love,
When I heard a gunshot?
How about when a kid has the means,
To tie a noose?
Or six other kids,
Let there anger loose?
Then twelve people,
Hand a sentence down.
Then tens of thousands,
March on a town.
We say we,
Look for justice,
Yet, is any found?
Don't put your trust in men,
They'll let you down!
Keep your eyes on God,
And prayer in your heart!
And vow that NO Thing,
Can dampen that spark.
We need to love our fellow man!

Called for Rusty running spaniel,
This dog never missed his dinner,
Nightfall came and I went looking,
Day break too, along the creek bed,

In the damp dark woods I found him,
Lying sleeping endless autumn,
With a tear for lost companion,
Covered him with leaves and twigs

Then I came again on Tuesday,
Stared at what he had become,
Hungry forest floor devoured,
Eyeless sunken fleshless mound,

Comes the snow, Missouri winter
Locked in stasis, frozen, finished,
I pray for spring to come and take him,
Release him from this purgatory,

Watchdog

Me, to you, is just a foolish young boy
Wrapped around your every move and mood
I can dance and sing out in the moonlight
But you won’t hear me make a sound at all

I watch for you from underneath the shadows
Out of the way from all the things you see
I’m not here to catch you looking at me
I’m waiting here to catch you when you fall

I stand alone and watch as others use you
Just like their other pretty paper dolls
A tear from me, a laughable reminder
A smile from you, a gesture even kinder…

I need help with some of the lines like 'with all their griefs in their arms' and 'singing light'. His attitute? Intended/unintended audience? The reward he mentioned (what he wants/does not want)? The irony and theme?

In My Craft or Sullen Art

In my craft or sullen art
Exercised in the still night
When only the moon rages
And the lovers lie abed
With all their griefs in their arms,
I labor by singing light
Not for ambition or bread
Or the strut and trade of charms
On the ivory stages
But for the common wages
Of their most secret heart.

Not for the proud man apart
From the raging moon I write
On these spindrift pages
Nor for the towering dead
With their nightingales and psalms
But for the lovers, their arms
Round the griefs of the ages,
Who pay no praise or wages
Nor heed my craft or art.

Single Red Rose
By: Adam Snow

As I see you slowly fade out of sight I then remember
your joy filled smile. I reach out to you as if you were
still alive, I then realized that your not there that
you have gone home. I drop to my knees and
started to cry as I remember the fun times we
shared together. I then felt a hand upon my shoulder,
I turn my head with tears in my eyes, I look up and
saw you in bright light. I stand up and you hug me.
You then told me that it’s going to be alright that
even though your not there with me in body, you’ll
always be there with me in spirit.

because it has stopped beating,
right from the start,

get the heat lamp,
and panic as you please,

Help me with this poem please?
Let me not to the marriage of true minds (Sonnet CXVI)

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

I share the flow of life with you
I feel the things you feel
I sense your moments of concern
The depths you reveal

My spirit filters in to you
As yours slips in to mine
I think of us as just one person
As our hearts combine

I draw you close and gather in
Your gifts of energy
Our one and one are meshed as two
And the two blend perfectly

We're closer than we've ever been
we're unified in dreams
There's is joy in our together
we are living precious themes

Eternity has lent us space
Our moments are too few
I'am grateful that you're part of me
And I am part of you

These delusions, such illusions
My mind is drowning, can't contain
Glass is shattering
Rain pitter, pattering
Knock, knock, knocking on imaginations door
I'm trapped within myself,
Growing is such pain
You walk away, you leave me crying
You used to love me,
You used to care
What happened to our memories?
What happened to our creation?
Such love and tenderness,
Gone, gone away
You used to show me whats it's like to be cared for,
Now it's nothing but arguments

Mind keeps growing can't contain
He's the illusationist,
Who made me believe

He's the illusionist,
Who made me believe

That there was someone out there for me...
That someone could be patient enough to care for me...

Can't bare the thought of losing you,
You say you want me,

Then prove it to me....

his eyes were a mix of green and blue
shining like the ocean
but rough
like the wild.
he stood there
conforming his body
reminding me of a fierce lion
standing on it's hind legs.
and there he stood
his tan skin glowing
against the dark night around us
he seemed so brave
not afraid
to jump off world's end.
yet when he came closer
he became scared and weak
and as I came closer
I felt understanding and fierce
though my heart was shivering.
we finished our
words. leaving
the conversation to be
left in the night air
i stood there
as his footsteps echoed
hoping for more.
but there was
nothing.
nothing.
nothing.

There's lots of poems called If Only but there's one that I really need to find. I found it quite awhile ago and am thinking for some reason that the website has got a red background... It talks about a person killing themselves and then having their soul rise and realising that they regret their decision. :) Please link it to me or send me the poem in whole!

when the train blows its whistle
i know what time it is
and when you give me that look
its no more than a quize
as i've seen that look before
thats when im up an adam
and headed out the door
your words are fists of fury
you scold me like a dog
thats why im in a hurry
you got me jumpin like a frog
i go off for a spell
in your furry you do dwell
and when i get back home
you always give me hell
once you calm down
you make it worth all that crap
naked and giving kisses
while squirming on my lap

I'm rather bored at the moment. I thought I'd post one that I consider pretty good (feel free to correct me :-)

Here it is: (written from man's perspective)

~~Untitled Poem~~

I knew I should not linger there;
But stopped and smelled a flower fair
Of perfumed petals, rich and rare--
Its charming beauty was a snare;
So I plucked it from its trembling branch--
I plucked it then, and in a flash,
The time to linger there was passed.
A thunder roared, and rain blew fast;
A quiet voice I heard speak then,
Amid the gales and the din:
"Do this with love, and you shall sin:
To pick a flower, as a whim.
Love should grow, let it thrive;
But pick for pleasure, it will die."
And this I heeded for a while,
But after time, I asked: "Why
Should I fear a little voice,
Almost lost in all the noise?
I will revel and rejoice--
To listen is for little boys!
