No rules????
Horse feathers!!!!!
Poetry has more rules than any other type of writing. It just depends on the type poetry you want to write. Many claim to write in "free style" or "free verse" meaning no rules.. To do that you just write a long run-on sentence, bad grammar, no punctuation, no capitals, no subject to speak of, just a conglomeration of disjointed, discombobulated words meaning little or nothing. You take a paragraph of that and insert returns in the most inapropriate places and cause it to be even worse. Then you call it free verse. In fact, it is not free verse, for even free verse has rules. The best thing I can tell you is to read and read, and when you get tired of reading, read some more, or listen to audiobooks. Listen or read the masters of poetry, and get a feel for all types, then learn all you can about the type you prefer. While you are doing all this, write. Write about this and that and anything else that comes to mind, when it sound good to you, put it on here to see if it sounds good to those on here.

Poetry is a great way to express your feelings. First, you need an idea- what are you writing about? What do you want to write about? In poetry, there are no rules, and you often change your mind as to its content. What aspect of life do you want to cover? The positive? The people? The choices? or love- A specific person? Searching for? Heartbreak? Whatever it is, once you get started, it's hard to stop!! Also, keep reading, because that is one of the best ways to be inspired. Just let your mind wander and your hand write, and your poem, wether free verse or rhyming, will be great! Good Luck :-)!

Start from your heart, literally. Write about your personal experiences with love or life. Or your desires of love or life. The best poetry is just true raw emotion and that has to come from within

i think u need a perfect atmosphere 2 write abt life or love..either go 2 a place where u can find people enjoyin their life or 2 a place where people struggle for life...because life has 2 phases..1 with happiness n other of misery n sorrows....u can become a good poet with reality rather than using complete imagination...go on.good luck...

Think of what you wish you had said or your
really want to say to someone but you
were too shy or hesitant or didn't want to hurt,
so you kept it inside.
Start there.
For example:
You make me fly yet you keep me tethered with your fear...
something like that

pouring poems
the poets blunder
the poets pride
is caught in the thunder
on a pencil ride
it comes from his brain
some from his heart
words spilling like rain
like he knew them from start
