--"Even a stubborn fool is thought to be wise if he keeps silent. He is considered intelligent if he keeps his lips sealed."

What does this mean to you?

Has anyone heard the famous quote by Ben Franklin, "It is better for you to keep silent and have people think you're stupid, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."?

Any parallels?

Explain.

I used to think life was all about money, since I wasn't rich growing up. Not poor but average. Ever since I've been on my own, going 3 years now, I felt like everything sucked because I didn't have enough money. It worried me constantly. But then I heard someone say something that gave me a revelation, he is into music and he said " if I don't do something involved with music everyday....I feel like the day was wasted". Right then it hit me, life isn't about getting rich, its about doing what you love to do. There is a lot of stuff we have to do, like taxes, and drive, and car registration/insurance all that bulls*** life stuff, but the secret to a great life is to just do those things with a good attitude and make your main focus what you love to do. I think that if you live life this way you will have few worries, since the majority of your attention and therefore your thoughts...are focused on your passion. What do you think??

With all the work that has been done on the benefits of optimism and the disadvantages of pessimism, when you ask WHY should I be optimistic, you always get the same answers.

"you should be optimistic because you'll accomplish more"
"because you'll likely be healthier"
"because people will like you more"

But if you ask WHY you should CARE if you are healthier, if people like you, or if you accomplish anything, they are pretty much left with one answer "because it feels good". Now that I can relate to, because the only thing that really matters to me in life is how I feel from moment to moment. Everything else is just a means to an end of how I believe it will make me feel.

But go to a morgue and look at a corpse...rotting, discolored, quickly turning to a squishy pile of mush. Does it matter now how accomplished that person was, or healthy, or popular, or happy? And I'm not saying there's no afterlife, but who knows, who cares?

What if we are the ghost and they are the ones alive. Because when we are born from day one our mother shows us life and what to expect from it.

If there is a truly omnipotent deity, who by that definition is all knowing and all powerful, why would it need to create a race of beings (such as ourselves) to 'serve him' and to 'spread his word' and live life a certain way to be able to live in a paradise at the end of your earthly life (or after 'judgement day', etc.)?
What do you suppose is the purpose of creating life only to struggle and suffer as much of the world does? If this deity knows how it will all turn out anyway, what is the point? Does it seem unusual that a deity of that nature would be so far above us that there's no way we'd be really necessary for it to create us as mere mortals?

she says that i'm not as successful and smart as he is. she wishes that i have some traits of my brother in me. she said my cousins are faster leaners than i am, because it took them a month to learn something that takes me a year to learn. is this another way mothers use to encourage their children to work harder? i don't understand my mother most of the time.
