I see two basic differences

First.... tactics are forethought cause and effect mapping for achieving an 'immediate' objective..... techniques are methodology to ensure error-free execution.

Second....... tactics are issue or situation specific and need to be thought through afresh each time a new issue or situation comes up... techniques are generally applicable in all situations.

Hi,

Tactics are strategies for the purpose of winning or achieving a winning end. Techniques are procedures that may incorporate evidence-based or tried-and-true methods to perform particular tasks that should be followed. Both tactics and techniques could be learned, but techniques are more didactic in nature as they do not require any creativity. Here is an analogy I think might help. Tactics:Napoleon::Techniques: combat soldier

Arguably, tactics are usually performed by upper up decision-makers because it requires higher-level thinking than techniques.

A tactic is a specific short-term operation that will get you closer to achieving your long-term strategic goal. A technique is a set of principles that helps you decide the most effective way to use the resources at your disposal to accomplish your task.
