Hi Wisdom.

I would not ask a vegetarian to buy me meat, and I most certainly would not ask them to work in a chicken factory!

I am not a vegetarian, but I do know many people who are. They will not wear any clothing made out of animal products. They will not eat vegetable meals that have animal-based fats or broths in them.

I think it would be disrespectful of me to ask one of my friends, who are vegetarians, to buy me meats. I know they would not want to handle these products; so I would be asking them to do something that is sinful, in their minds. Is it truly a sin? I do not believe so. But the point is that THEY feel that way, so the sin would be in disrespecting their beliefs.

I most certainly would never ask a vegetarian to work in a chicken factory. It would be like a slap in the face to them. I would be blatantly disrespecting their beliefs. Those who answered that it is OK are wrong. Just because it doesn't mean that they have to eat it is not justification to ignore their beliefs.

A vegatarian is more than someone who does not eat meat. They are morally opposed to the killing of animals for food. So, why would they work in a chicken factory based upon the fact that they don't have to eat it? That shows an ignorance of the beliefs of true vegetarians.

As I have said, vegetarians are more than people who do not eat meat. It is much more than that. To ask someone, who is against the killing of animals for food, to work in a chicken factory shows ignorance, at best. and downright meanness at worst. It is mocking what they believe in, showing them that you do not take their beliefs seriously.

As I said, I am not a vegetarian, but I certainly respect the beliefs of others to be vegetarians. What they are doing is not sinful, so there is no reason for me not to respect them. As it says in the Bible:

"Do unto others as you would have others do unto you."

Peace.

Many---but not all---vegetarians are vegetarians because they oppose the killing of animals. So, yes, to ask that type of vegetarian to work in a chicken factory or buy meat would put them in a moral quandary that would not be fair or acceptable to them. However, many---but not all---vegetarians are vegetarians because they feel it is a healthy diet and don't necessarily have a problem with animals being raised and killed as cash crops. Those vegetarians would not be put in the same moral quandary if asked to buy meat or work in a chicken factory.

For most of the vegetarians even seeing, touching or smelling raw meat is repulsive. To ask them to purchase some meat will be putting them in mental dilemma, Since they do not eat meat, purchasing it for them seems irrelevant.Their working in a chicken factory will depend on their own tolerance as well as necessity of a job to survive.

No. I was a vegtarian for 10 years. I wouldn't mind, although wouldn't enjoy it either buying meat for someone.

It's not wrong to ask your husbant to buy some tampons, although he has no use for them. LOL. He propbaly won't exactly enjoy it too.

To the answer below: I never made a mistake, even once, in those 10 years. Not in a buffet place, not a party, not at a restaurant. Somehow I just could tell. I have extremely sensitive nose, too. I usually can smell it.

I don't think there is something wrong with that. So long as your true to yourself then there is no problem at all. What is important is the true personality of a person. As long as you have a good conscience or that person has a good conscience nothing seems to have problem.

NIce to see you back. Thanks for asking. Have a good day!

i guess it depends on the vegetarian. some vegetarians are extremely sensitive and won't even touch meat. others are fine with it as long as they don't eat it.
