The path of the peace and joy is to live a good life conducive to your finding the real reality. Your life attuned to the qualities of the real reality and your strenght and endurance and capabilities developed enough so that you can follow that path undaunted.

The qualities of the real reality are happiness, peace, strength, compassion and care for others, right way of living etc.

There are many paths that Hindu and Buddhists have suggested.
The path of Yoga.
The path of Sankhya.
The path of Bhakta.
The path of Karmayogi.
The balanced path of a Yogi.
The path of Jnana Yogi.
The eight-fold path of the Buddhists seeking
four noble truths and the enlightenment.

The art is to live with a balanced science of a good life with prudence that gives peace of mind and to proceed towards the real ultimate goal on your life path. This adds to your peace and joy since the real ultimate goal is full of immense peace, immense happiness among other things.

I hope I am able to explain and point at the answer.

It is for the sake of peace and joy that man has discovered spirituality...... materialism has never led to any stable peace and joy. In my view, spirituality should not be confused with theism or religion.... spirituality simply deals with the recognition and purification of our innermost inclinations that guide and influence our mind....... in that sense it also encompasses what we understand from humanity and morality.

Check out Voltaire's utopian society of El Dorado in his novel Candide...

the "people" there are all peace and joy, but they never really move anywhere, in a way. peace and joy are relative, and worthless in and of themselves. as long as you move in their direction you're good...

the point is to work at it...it's the process that matters, as with most things...

ALTRUISM!!!!!!!!!!!

Know yourself. You can not know another until you know yourself. When you know yourself and others as they mean to be known, you have peace and joy always around you.

Fear God and celebrate his Sabbaths. Bow the knee to Jesus Christ and you will find peace and joy.

Detatchment. I don't mean not feeling or caring, just understanding that all things are temporary so becoming so attatched that you MUST keep something or someone in your life brings with it fear, anger, jealousy, etc. With detatchment, you are free to love without trying to control.

More like Eastern philosophy than Western. For some reason we feel like we have to OWN for anything to be worthwhile.
