I've read it in so many places, but I can't quite put my finger on just what it means. The context never seems to help, because every context makes no sense without knowing what metaphysical means! The cloest I can come is that...it is the line where science and philosophical thought cross. Thats the best I can come up with...any ideas?

Ive always wondered about this. Since we are the most despised and hated race of people on the planet. Then God just suddenly took us away for like the next 1000 years, what would become of the societies of planet Earth?

I learned that people are very good at hiding their true feelings. I always thought that this guy absolutely hated me. Such cold looks. It turns out that he has wanted to be with me for so long.

I also learned that some people just can see past the labels. Sometimes it is good to hide who you really are because people will simply not understand unless they have experienced it.

I just feel like all of the advertisements, the products, the celebrity idolization is just a means to pacify us into being stupid, and is allowing others to choose who we are and what we believe. Is it possible?

Rubble, stone, bricks, concrete, glass...or maybe simply of straw, even?

Are they even necessary for you at all? If so, what are your reasons for building them?

Care to share...?

I am confused about something. Working hard gets you places in life, am I not right? But half the time, someone half as dedicated as you wins the prize. I know, life's not fair. That's okay. So then, are people who are relaxed and unworried, less than mediocre, actually happier? They seem to be free, to discover and work with what gifts they've been given, and then you see people faced with the walls of their cubicles at the start of each new day. And so here is the question I want most to be answered........Being smart can come from working hard and is also just natural for some people, so if you work hard enough, can you be as much an impact as someone who is partially genius?

Not just a dictionary definition. What is it really? Why can't I just sit and stare at a blank wall all day? Why does everything eventually no longer become fun or engaging?

The question is "Is sugar sitting in a bowl with no one there to taste it still sweet..."

I saw the question posted years ago on another site and figured i'd ask it here.

In my opinion it is still sweet. I say this because it posses the molecules that creat the sensation of sweetness. Whether or not someone is there to taste them they're still there to give off their sweetness. I concluded this because i also agree that a tree falling in the woods still makes a sound even if no one is there to hear it. And there seems to be a general consensus about the tree falling question... sound still travels, bounces of objects etc...

Some may say "sound", or "sweetness" is the sensation we get... and because it is subjective like that it is only realized when someone is there to experience it. However i dissagree with this. I feel our experience is merely an interpertation of an objective phenomenon. Making it there whether we are or not.

"When I was half way along the journey of our life I found myself in a shadowed forest for I had lost the path that does not stray."

This is the opening line from Inferno by Dante. beyond being a great opening line it also brings up an interesting question, how does someone lose their way?

I am not referring to a religious (as in the Inferno) or specific situation but just in general, how can someone lose their way, become wrapped up in things that they ordinarily would never consider, do things that they would normally never do?

So my question is, how can someone lose their way an once lost how can they find themselves and their way again?

Please explain your reasoning.

Thanks.

Would you rather...

Live an artificial, virtual reality life completely of your choosing? (this means never being able to leave the virtual life and having complete knowledge that you were in a virtual world the whole time)

OR

Live your current real life?
