When I first awaken, I catch with my fingertips the remnants of dreams that the winds of memory rend like many garments from the line. If I am gentle, I may capture one with a message I wish to wear for the day.

Good question Flutter I like it your so creative you are an artist :))) I have to say I put on my past all the time hahaha and then yell at my brain and say live in the moment for get the past..because it is usally an issue that I am trying to put closure to and thats bad its backwards and it can not get me anywhere by looking at the past even at night right before I go to sleep to :))) I am learning to deal with the immediate present and my future sometimes its easier to look back at the past because the future can be scary if you know what I mean :)))) and we develop a comfort of security which is a false one and not helpful to our well being for out life in the present and the future as well....

My past is with me when I wake up, even if it is just the immediate past. If it wasn't I would not have a sense of continuity or feel oriented to where I was in time or space. So, for a brief moment, it is there first. Immediately after, my mind shifts to the future as I prepare for my day.

To wake up is the start of a new future and the end of the past, thus keep the sweet and bitter of yesterday, yet embrace today as a new lease on life and live it without any limits

I think about what to cook for breakfast for the family. That is generally the thought every morning especially if I am running late and want to rustle up some quickies. So that makes it a thought for the future, however mundane it may sound! But some days when I am visited by my past in my dreams, I take quite some time to come out of it...

Since I wake up today, I put on my present. It's another gift the future never knows. If I'll grab the future, my present may not fit in anymore. So I put on my present and head out to the waiting unknown where hope is a matching shade to my present's hue.

I wake up first with my past to reflect on what I did right and what I did wrong. This will give me a grasp of what to do next or anticipate in the future.

I can't wake up with my future. It hasn't happened yet. I wake up with my past and walk into the future. I can imagine what I am walking into but I can never know with certainty. I could wake up, prepare to enter the bathroom to brush my teeth to discover that we had no water, or the toilet had fallen through the floor.

There are no guarantees that the world we know will continue from one moment to the next.

I would aim for neither. The present is what I am.

If I had to choose either I would rather be defined in terms of my past. It is known. The future never really exists. It only comes into existence in terms of the present it comes to be. It only matters when it ceases to be the future and is the present.

I honestly confess it is my present which is the gift of now.

The future has a tendency to attract my attention within a short time, the future tries to hurry me, I won't be hurried.
I deal with what is in front of me, usually the present.
My past, no, I threw it over my shoulder when the curtains went down on my mind the night before.

I would say my future because why go back to the past when you cant change the past. I look to the future and wonder what will happen. :)
