Philosophers for centurys have been asking that question and I think the best answer is that life has a defferent meaning for everyone, and you just need to find what your life's meaning is.

Well, it all ( In my opinion) depends on you. If you are a Christian, the main purpose in life is to live life using Jesus as your example. (If you arent sure what that is, ask. Ask someone you know that is a Christian, or find a church that you feel can lead you to that answer..or ask a minister...) This I know can seem impossible at times but it IS possible if you have and allow Him to help and guide you. Life can be a very good place. My philosophy is " Its all in the attitude." I think this can be applied to your question...Life is all about your attitude. If you feel one way it will probably go that way...if you lean the other it will go that way. Basically we get out what we put in. If you are looking for someone to tell you what being a human is all about- you only need to look inside of you. It is different for everyone. What do you want out of this life? This world? You are a smart, intelligent person or you could not have asked such a deep question. For me, I believe the main purpose of being a human being is to live a healthy, Christian lifestyle. That's what being a human is to me...Whats inside of you?

The main reason is to live. Because ultimately, the price of living is death.
But to every individual person, there's a different meaning. One person could want to invent something that could change the world, another person just wants to get by, and someone else could just want to take what life throws at them.
You can't really give something so special as a life a purpose, because there are thousands of different things you could do with a life.
So really, life is just like buying something expensive. You want to make the most out of it. You want to make the most out of the life that you have before its over.

A human being? Just ask yourself because you might get different answers depending on the source. Based on the story of Adam and Eve, itis to care for the world. But philosopers have different stand. That is to be happy or make others happy. Some say each individual is destined for a specific purpose. (I don't believe in destiny) But I do believe in choice. It's up to you to choose your purpose and whether to fulfill it or not.

oh really!? and what have you decided? humans are colonial organizations of cells, they like to make more cells but what do they know they're unicellular! bah. might as well enjoy yourself but all morality is about leading the best life you can. Indeed getting into trouble won't likely get you very far nor make you good friends, even though some may seem to get away with it. there isn't any meaning but that does not necisarily mean it's all meaningless. I don't think we can effectively choose to impose meaning but must find it in a vast randomness.... i like that.

Your question requires a Creator of our lives. Only a Creator can give purpose and living for a true purpose is what gives meaning.

“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell (philosopher/atheist)

If we reject God, then all we're talking about is feelings. What can I do to feel good about myself? Here the answer is to keep busy (so we can't think about our meaningless existence); focus on small feelings of happiness; do some good deeds so we can inflate our egos and get a feeling of living for a purpose.

If we don't reject God, then we can see that God must have put our great need of meaning into our human nature in order to point us to seek Him.

To survive. That is your primary purpose.
Second, is to work out your own salvation by gaining knowledge and an understanding of life, which includes you.
Third, be so important in what you do that the entire world will lament your passing but be a better place because of you.
Fourth is to live long enough to understand that the first three are true

to acknowledge your creator and seek to know his will for your life.

He made you so he knows you better than you know yourself, sees every thought and loves you the same.

he has given you your...

and has made a bridge (Jesus Christ) for you to walk across in order to meet with him if you choose to.
