seeing as this is the philosophy section, love is a metaphor,
and in this metaphor, love is fire and to conquer it, we've got to wield that ball of fire in our hands, but the problem is, is that fire(as everyone knows) is extremely dangerous, and we can wear gloves and never get too close or we can risk it and it takes a lot of surgery to fix burns.
so if you say, i can just take off the gloves later, realize how hard it would be to hold fire in one hand while taking off the glove. people who say time heals all wounds have never been burnt before

I read "Conversations On Consciousness" and quite a few papers and articles on the "hard problem" and heard about the work of Dehaene/Naccache, who (as I understood) found the NCC. After all, what explanatory gap(s) are yet to be filled? Apart from other mysteries about the brain (memory etc.) it seems to me that science found out already what consciousness is (for) and how it "arises".

Or is my impression really true that all the scientists are simply "fighting" over "I have the better theory!" while nobody really has a clue how to unite all accumulated knowledge instead of just presenting it like Blackmore bravely did in "Consciousness: An Introduction"?

I got confused after reading Ramachandran's "Three Laws Of Qualia". First I thought it's the same thing, now I wonder what makes Ramachandran think that connecting two brains with a neuronal wire would give both the same experience. I think that even then the experience will be subjective.

The Pythagorean Theorem is true but dogs are incapable of grasping it because, presumably, their brains are less developed. Do our brains restrict our access to any truths in a similar fashion?

Which do you prefer? I realize this is very broad and vague, but there is a Japanese term for the beauty of imperfection. I'm not very familiar with the term or philosophy associated with it, but the idea of beauty in imperfection is very intriguing to me. Answer in regards to whatever first comes to mind. (i.e. human beauty as in attraction or natural beauty as in a landscape, or art, or... fill in the blank blah blah blah).

ok, I am 17 years old. My family is all set for me to go to college in the fall. One problem, I may be pregnant from a guy that left me after I told him that I am a lesbian. I am totally against abortion, but I don't want this baby, but can't see anyone but me raising it. After all, it is my blood. What am I going to do? Do you think I will end up alone? OMG..................

It's like there was some central planning somewhere so that it felt like three or more out of the ordinary nuisances happened in one day. How is it that when a "bad day" happens all really does go bad? A bad day is when ordinarily oblivious people get on your case for no apparent reason.
