How can I release the concept of the ego? It seems almost impossible. Also, does doing this contradict the "know thyself" sentiment, if there isn't a self?

You cannot lose the ego. You can rise above it though. You have already begun.

That's the question that all people persueing enlightenment want to know. I guess if you can achieve non-thought. Or if you can remove the concept of dualism. I think it's a matter of experience. Something has to trigger your brain into going "a-ha!" And no it doesn't nessasarily contradict "know thy self." It could now be considered to mean the universal whole. Because you are it, so it is the self. That or you could just screw that statement all together :P

Where do people get this BS. Firstly, you do not 'release' any concepts; they are there for your using. Secondly, the ego is like having lungs or a stomach; you are dead not having them because they serve vital functions for your living.
