Someone I know who helped woman in labor said something to me once that was actually somewhat life changing and I think that can apply to emotional and physical pain.

Pain is your minds way of telling you that you are in danger.

Now from her perspective, she was talking about woman being able to handle labor without drugs if they can get their minds to believe they are not in any danger. If they can, then they won't feel pain. I have never been in labor and don't know the validity of that statement, in relation to child birth, but I do think that it is a good way to look at pain and how to deal with it.

They found that pain is concentrated thought. If you don't think about it you can't feel it as you can't think about two things at once. Try it. That should at least reduce it considerably to make it bearable if not eliminate it. Emotions are funny too. They are mostly energy so I love them. Put your thoughts on something positive and the energy moves onto that if you let or expect it to. The energy is neutral in the whole process. Again, you can learn how to do it pretty quickly. Seeing is believing. You don't have to believe. Test it. That's the scientific method.

u mean why do we have it? *thenks* my personal answer i find in my religion, i dont believe we were made for pain, but i believe we live in a kind of world we werent made for either. and this incompatibility leads to unhappy creations such as pain ♥

same as fear.. its healthy, it keeps us alive, it drives us.

you'd be pretty dead ( not to mention never born) if it were not there.

but yea, you cant describe it with words really(same as pretty much all emotions, actually pretty much anything). but if we didn't try putting everything in a box and describe everything, what the hell would we do?

get confused and not allot els lol

I've known "grief" before...many times...

And you're "dead" wrong about that...

It goes away...(eventually)

The "good" pain is what you should seek, my child...

(and I KNOW you KNOW what I mean by "good pain..." ...la la la la la la la...)

pain is something that lessens when you take from others and happiness is something that exceeds when you share with others..
