Say, moving to Alaska and hunting and gathering rather than going to a daily job? (within the realm of reason...you already knew how to hunt, chop firewood, etc...)

Should whether or not a person is deserving of compassion be a consideration when determining whether or not to feel compassionate?

I tend to only be compassionate towards those who do their best and fail or are victims of misfortune that was out of their control.

What do you think?

I was kind of wondering this, and because we may not win at everything and we need certain things to be comfortable, that if you have to compete for it, then it was not meant for you. I suppose this would be consistent with the saying that "if it was meant for you then it will be for you." So, then is it futile to compete when maybe we should be finding the things that we don't have to compete for, the job that is just right for us, or the mate that is right for us.

I am an atheist and I wanted to ask other atheists if they sometimes felt this way. I am wondering if there are events in your life that make you question the non-existence of a supreme being? I have had a bout of very good fortune lately (the most notable of which was making it 1000 miles round trip with a fuel pump that was on the verge of setting my car on fire; and it simply died two miles from my home) - so sometimes it feels like I'm being "watched over." I don't think it's "god" or anything like that, but sometimes I wonder if the forces of the universe are moving in my favor.

I was taught that being judgmental is wrong. What if those judgments are flattering or positive in some way. I guess I shouldn't be judging you.

Your thoughts.
