Chinese and Japanese people are both East Asian, but they are certainly not the same. Each group has a different language, culture, history and traditions. They may have influenced one another to an extent, but all countries that live in close proximity to one another are like that.

I would imagine that the fact that Chinese culture is native to China and not Japan might play a large part in that. The Japanese imported and incorporated aspects of Chinese culture into their already existing society. It wasn't like the Japanese were a blank slate just waiting for someone to come and tell how to be. The Japanese already had a "culture", and the mixture of the two produced something very different than the original.

The two cultures were seperated by water so it's easy for differences to develop because travel wasn't as common as walking down the road to the next village. Later, the Japanese raided the Chinese and conquered areas. In WW2 the Japanese used Chinese women for sex slaves and men for medical experiments as bad as the Nazis did to Jews.

The reason is simple- the bounderies set by the ocean.
Japan had centuries of being isolated within their own islands, so their history took different turns with different rulers and shoguns.
China has a huge continent with lands as diverse and complicated as the lifestyles to survive in it. People can come and go with much more movement than Japan had. They had to contend with the dynasties, and some warring tribes.

for the comparable reason that American way of existence is so diverse from English, even however a sturdy little bit of yankee way of existence is from England. each and every united states creates its very own way of existence because it grows. So even however jap got here from China (a minimum of partly), it has replaced and moved faraway from its parent way of existence. The actual geography (being an island as a replace of a extensive sprawling landmass) and diverse government stlyes, have made super variations interior the variety of existence.
