Today, there are all sorts of controls governing our every behavior and restictions on what we can say, think, act or do.
Fences, Traffic Lights, passports, food limits, marriage, etc.

We seem to be moving to a place where all these controls are creating a world in which every individual is being contolled and supressed by some means. America is supposed to be the land of the free, but nobody is really free and their are a lot of freedoms being suppressed every day and there seems to be no end in sight.

I know that everybody has to get along, that is why there are restrictions, but where is the median? Nobody seems to be able to be who they are. They are expected to act, think and be a certain way.

It seems as though the people who are the "outlaws" put restrictions on the rest of us. It's like the Movie 1984, but with a twist and we can't help but move in that direction, where we are nothing but some robotic creatures. I no loner like being a robot and following the masses.

What is life? How do I know that I am Alive?

Going into the field of molecular biology we find we are nothing but atoms and molecules, that is it. Yet I am Me, I think, I feel, I eat and have breath and I have the ability to produce a progeny.

But what of Fire. It eats and breaths and can be said to produce young. The only thing it doesn't do is think and react, but since it is a chemical reaction just like what powers us and has the same abilities as me except for the ability to think is it alive too?

If I am made up of only atoms the same a rock or the sun why is it that I am the one who has life?

Please explain your answers.
I thank you in advance for your insight.

I need to write an essay about something interesting. It doesnt have to be true, but it can't be far-fetched. You know - something that could happen. Any ideas?

Hello all,

I am in a bit of a prediciment. I have a very very stuborn girlfriend. She is constantly thinking the world is going to end, and often its over very small things that shouldnt matter. awhile ago, she had back surgery... throwing off her tennis career greatly. Going from 2nd ranked in the nation for her age group to not ranked at all was very difficult, as im sure you understand. She has been very close to me for a long time and i dont really know what to tell her. She is still amazing at tennis, and has a ton to be proud of. She is upset because she wont ever be the player she once was, and wont ever live up to her parents expectations. What can i tell her to make her just live life and be happy. I feel like happiness is all mental, so its hard for me to think of ways to tell her to be happy other than just saying "be happy." Good quotes or logic would be appreciated, as i really want to do anything i can to help.

Thanks.

Really Don't want to know what it means though. That would just be pointless. Like art. Not that art is pointless. But your word should paint its own image. Actually, what IS the point of art? What constitutes art? Is art something you spend a great deal of time and effort creating, just to have someone tell you it's not art? Infact, Screw the word. What is art?

This question requires much thought so don't answer just anything!

I'd be Oprah Winfrey. Not just to keep the money for myself, but to help others too. she has all this money richest woman in the world. She's done so much for the community. She's a great figure for society and I'd be honored to be her.

solipsism. the beleif that nothing exists outside ones one mind and its perceptions. alot of people ask "why does it matter?". well yes it does matter. everything you have ever known to be real and love is now meaningless and non existent. you have stripped it of everything that it has ever meant to you. your kids, nothing matters. cause it doesnt realy exist. this is why it is making me depressed. especialy the fact that it cant be proven false. whats the point of living "life" anymore? there isnt!!!

and its not realy so much that maybe everything is a product of MY mind. but what if there is some type of creator or a "god" that is putting me in a fake and illusionary world?? this thought is downright frightening. and it makes you question what the point of it realy is.

is the reason it is declared unfalsible is because it cant be disproven to the solipsist?? but it is fact that there are minds that co-exist??

the thought just disturbs me.

1.) Objective (adj): 1 Detached, impartial; impersonal. 2 Extrinsic; complete in itself.
My photography teacher asked us to think about this question. I wanted to get your input and help with this. Thanks for any of your thoughts. Also- if you have any examples of what it may be.
