The perfect image, the perfect body, the perfect person. It would appear that our society will only accept the perfect.

I asked a question a while ago about whether people could accept someone who was different (as in not your perfect kalvin klien model with the personality to match but not violent or disagreeable) as a partner and 80% of those who responded said that they would try for or wait for something better.

Does this mean that our society is fixated on the perfect? And if I remember my history correctly is that not the time that civilisations in the past have fallen from power and into the slow steady decline of ruin (i.e. Rome)?

It is said that history repeats itself and that those who fail to learn from it are doomed to repeat it, if this is true then is this a warning from history? A warning sign of social decay? And what does this mean for us if it is?

Please explain your answers.
I thank you in advance for your insight.

Or is it them? I was in an ethics class and we were talking about "what would you say to the imprisoned Hitler".

Everyone was talking about trying to debate him or reason with him. When it came to me I said I'd put a gun to his head and do away with him. People just looked at me like I was insane.

I mean come on the bastard killed like 12 million people and millions more in a war he started. If one person has to die for something like that not to happen, especially the one responsible for it, then it's a small price.

Given that no one would make any large investment without having some evidance to support that choice! Yet these same people will blindly believe there is a God with no evidance to support this God's existance!

my dad always says that in spite of the fact that we are so advanced, no longer have imperialistic ambitions in the world, we still fall into some of the same flaws as people 100s, perhaps 1000s of years before us. What are some of these?

A hypothetical situation,
A prisoner is tried and convicted for a crime.

The country that this is in has the death penalty.

The prisoner is given the death penalty.

The prisoner is put to death by lethal injection.

He did not commit the crime he was accused of.

You are a citizen of this country.

As a citizen of the country whose legal system put this innocent man to death would you take responsibility (if only in part) for his death? Why/Why not?

What does this mean for countries that still have the death penalty?

Please explain your answers
I thank you in advance for your insight.

LIFE is relatively short, after all, even if we do live to the proverbial three score and ten (70 years) or longer, and that fact by itself makes it hard to take LIFE all that seriously, in my opinion.
