How can I make you understand that money can buy happiness and peace of mind?

Provide him/her the happiness and the peace of mind or illustrate the happiness he/she already has without money with examples.
The above sentence is to be corrected
"Money cannot always buy happiness and peace of mind"
Always is the key word.

Ask your friend if it's reasonable that any amount of money can guarantee one's safety (not necessarily your friend's safety, but the safety of your friend's loved ones as well) beyond all possible doubt. Even if all earthly threats could be eliminated, an asteroid could still fall out of the sky and ruin things for everyone.

One way would be to give them all your money and not talk to them for a while, but that would be too expensive. Best way, in my opinion , would be to show them the opposite. Show him/her that you can have just as much fun without money, and also show him/her a few things that money can't buy and show him/her how happy they can be.
(If it's someone of the opposite sex, whom you like, show them love!)

give him money and tell him that from now on this is your friendship and if he wants the money you will never be next to him ever again! he/she will eventually see that you cannot buy friendship and true feelings.

by being happy and content, and by being self sufficent, all your protestations will mean naught if you borrow money or need rides etc etc. peace and be happy!

You can't. You cannot "make" somebody change their beliefs. You can live according to your belief, and s/he, observing that it makes you happy, may change her/his beliefs to match yours. But if living by her/his present beliefs makes her/him happy, you are SOL.
