As long as you don't do so at the expense of someone else, it's not wrong (though it is a very sad waste). However, if you expect taxpayers, friends, or your mommy to support you while you "do nothing" or remain "non-beneficial", then yes, it is wrong. Then you're a parasite.

A little story for demonstration purposes: :)
Joe Brown is happy doing nothing in life, but realizes that he is a small piece in the universal puzzle, and that to do nothing is a disservice to himself and to others. So, he decides to, say, go to college and "do something" with his life, although he's not yet sure what. In his general education science class, he is astonished to find out that he finds the topic absolutely fascinating. He majors in a science-related field, and enjoys his studies. Years later, he finds the cure for cancer (or HIV or diabetes or any other illness), and saves the lives of many people and spare the suffering of many.
Or, perhaps Joe Brown is happy doing nothing in life, and succombs to mediocrity. He drifts through life with no purpose or meaning. He never discovers his interest in science, and he never discovers the cure that will save many people from pain, suffering, and death. He has cheated both humanity and himself by "doing nothing with his life."
Therefore...yes, I think it's wrong, both on a large scale and on a personal, best interest of the person basis. :)
Edit: Using college as an example is just that: an example. Joe could have also decided to be a great McDonald's manager if that's what he felt was "doing something" with his life. Just wanted to clarify. :)

Mind , Body and intellect combine together to make us act.It is impossible not to act or think. Just impossible. Just as the body "grows" without any effort from your side the body acts also , in some way or the other.
Yes. You can curtail your actions. Doing nothig needs greater effort than doing something.

No.. there is nothing wrong to do nothing with the life. It may be just non-beneficial but it doesn't mean it's wrong. Making it beneficial to others is a rule that we set to ourselves and is not necessarily the rule of the nature.
If we go back to basics of living (that we see in the animals), they just live. That's all. It's all natural.

I don't think that doing nothing with life is any 'wrong'. However, it is 'unwise'..... because in order to be happy, we NEED to do something with our life.... being human, an animal-like life without any goal or aim, merely satisfying physical needs of the body, leaves our mind highly dissatisfied... in such a dissatisfied state of mind, one can either become sick through depression or devilish through idle thoughts. To keep our mind busy with something worthwhile in life is essential for our own peace of mind.
In other words, doing something in life may not be an obligation, but it certainly is an unavoidable necessity to maintain good health of our body and mind.

It can be classed as wrong. The majority rules, so if this is an antisocial act at the time, then society considers it wrong.
Personally, I think it's just non-beneficial...but society will define the right and wrong part.

Could be the secret of life seeing as how people who strive too hard are so miserable. My motto is as long as you are not consciously hurting others you are free to live your life the way you want to. But more & more I feel life is fun if you are continously learning something. Does not have to be in a formal bookish way either. Life is trying to teach us all something.

It is not "wrong". Life is our own to live our own way (yes, that's a paraphrase from Metallica). Personally, I'm much more fond of the pot-head who does not have much ambition, but lots of love than the super-motivated oil company C.E.O. with no heart.

Ok. . .right and wrong are legal terms. Good and bad would be proper here. There is nothing illegal with a wasted life. Morally speaking, to waste a life is bad and I'm sure a lot of people will give you ideas as to why that is. . .
