Controls Governing Our Existance?

Today, there are all sorts of controls governing our every behavior and restictions on what we can say, think, act or do.
Fences, Traffic Lights, passports, food limits, marriage, etc.

We seem to be moving to a place where all these controls are creating a world in which every individual is being contolled and supressed by some means. America is supposed to be the land of the free, but nobody is really free and their are a lot of freedoms being suppressed every day and there seems to be no end in sight.

I know that everybody has to get along, that is why there are restrictions, but where is the median? Nobody seems to be able to be who they are. They are expected to act, think and be a certain way.

It seems as though the people who are the "outlaws" put restrictions on the rest of us. It's like the Movie 1984, but with a twist and we can't help but move in that direction, where we are nothing but some robotic creatures. I no loner like being a robot and following the masses.

Yes we are over governed. You're right. We are capable of thinking for ourselves, even though they want us to believe that we can't.

If I want to run a red light and I don't see anyone around, especially a cop, I will run it. Not necessarily during the busiest times of day, but I know how to cross the street. At any moment that I can seize the opportunity to have my freedom and do what I want, I do.

Here's my saying: if that's what everybody else is doing there must be something wrong with it...do the opposite of the masses.

I THINK THAT YOU ARE PARTLY RIGHT. THE CONTROLS ARE MEANT FOR A GROUP OF PEOPLE TO BEHAVE IN SUCH A WAY THAT AT INDIVIDUAL LEVELS WE FEEL COMFORTABLE. SUPPOSE THAT THERE ARE NO TRAFFIC CONTROLS WHICH WILL MEAN THAT IF YOU ARE WALKING OR DRIVING YOU WILL NOT SUFFER FROM JAMMING OR GET INJURED/KILLED. THE CONTROLS ARE ON YOUR FOOD HABITS ARE YOUR OWN CONTROLS TO ENSURE HEALTHY LIFE AND GOVERNMENTS DO NOT PUT ANY LAWS. WE DO SEEM TO BE MOVING TOWARDS WORLD WHICH IS CONTROL BASED FOR OUR LIVING STYLE BUT NO BODY CAN SNATCH YOUR FREEDOM TO EVALUATE OR PROBE INTO WHAT WE ARE. IN ABSENCE OF SOCIAL CONTROLS THE LIFE WOULD BE SO MUCH CHAOTIC THAT YOU NEITHER WILL HAVE TIME TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE AND WHAT FOR YOU ARE HERE IN THIS WORLD NOR YOU WILL HAVE ENERGY LEFT TO THINK ABOUT THESE VERY IMPORTANT ISSUES.

for there to be a society, control measures must be in place. take for example, what you said : traffic lights. imagine junctions without lights, who is to say when to stop and when to go ? think about the chaos that would ensure.

There has to be some amount of control in order to create a working and healthy society.

Where is the line? Personally I think where the individual's rights end when they damage another's. That's why there are laws.
