Hi Brebitz,
Every human has : "good and evil", they just choose which side they want to be put on display for other humans, to see... Humans, spend their entire lives judging one another... What we think of each other is just that... And what one person thinks may be very different than what another thinks... Not to mention that everybody's definition of what good is and what evil is different.... As to the extremes, that's based off of what you're upbringing is....
>>>>>>>>
Doing something, because it is kind.. and will benefit someone else would be "good", to me.... Not because I want everyone to know I did it, but because I KNOW it's a good and right thing to do.... That would qualify in my personal book of "good" ... ;)
I guess, I would say, we have the potential for BOTH... Depending upon our choices.. and the efforts taken to give us the skills and knowledge to make choices with....

Thanks, for the question!;)

My regards!

Take care!

People are human first and foremost you know and if people are inherently good the proof begins at birth. Evil is not born, it is created by a human adult mind, therefore, we are born inherently good but the humans who have surrounded us during our lives growing into adults, can create this change we were not born to have.

People inherently want to survive. You survive by doing good and making other people like you.

Are people genuinely good though? Only the very very enlightened are, and they are very rare. Most other people could care less about those outside their immediate families. It's all very sad.

If you are talking as a whole, I'd say yes.
If you are talking individually, then it would depend on the person. I have found, through many years as a teacher and social science addict, that many traits are inherited. This includes temper and some psychological defects. So you would have to look at each individual and decide the answer.

Yes, people are inherenatly good.

However this does not mean that they are good according to our western world standard. People generally gain pleasure from doing what is the good thing, but that is purelly individual statement 'what the is good thing'.

Hope this helps.

They start out that way, as children.

And then, parents and those around them begin to shape their lives, their experiences, their understanding, their beliefs, etc.

A child can grow up mentally healthy and with a good self-image, respectful to those around him/her and with a measure of "common sense," or that same child, under different circumstances can grow up prejudiced, narrow-minded, sullen, hateful, mistrustful, delinquint, etc.

Two parts to the human mind: The Judgment is negative, the Will is positive. If you are, they could be.
