In every good relationship there is give and take. A boat receives it's bouyancy. it's ability to go in a specific direction, it's very ability to travel from the ocean so it is intimately related to it. What does a boat give back?

He said "If relativism signifies a contempt for fixed categories and men who claim to be bearers of an objective, immortal truth...then there is nothing more relativistic than fascistic attitudes...all ideologies are mere fictions, the modern relativist infers that everybody has the right to create for himself his own ideology and to attempt to enforce it...
1. Are you a moral relativist?
2. If you are, do you find yourself in agreement with Mussolini?
3. Or, are you different, is your brand of relativism somehow "good" for those around you?

Just wondering why he's important. Why do we still mention him in political discussions? Why is he still important today? Do we still agree with what he wrote in the Leviathan?

do you believe that the human race can ever be able to understand the things that go on in nature, be it diseases, all physical quantities like electricity and magnetism, or just all the weird coincidences out there, and if so can the human race be able to manipulate the laws that they understand so that nature does what they wish?

i believe that perfection isn't just something that is often beyond near impossible to achieve and maintain throughout, but it is implies it is requirement or standard that people have to aspire and live up to, just because society expects us to do so. isn't doing your very best good enough? and why the need to put pressure on yourself to be something or look a certain way, all for society or the media's interests because this suggests that you cannot manage by yourself, nor can you think for yourself either

Is not helping the poor like buying an ipod rather than donating moral equivilant to murder? Think of it this way if you saw someone drowning then you would help them rather than just buy a flat-screen right?
