I'd think anything more that 75 words is too much. Most questions require a few sentences to really answer, but few people will read a long one.

No; the best answers are the most complete and helpful ones, regardless of length.
That being said, economy of language is always in good style.

Best answers need not short.They just have to answer upto the mark & shd be gunshot(that is it shdnt deviate from the question).Moreover they shd be understandable.

I have found the shorter the answer the more likely you are to get the points...which is why I rarely get best answer!!

Probably yes. I guess right questions give right answers. You don't have to write a bible to a better explanation, just answer as shortly as it can be.
